If you could give yourself a compassionate break today just for 30 seconds what could you offer yourself to slow down in that moment to bring your nervous system a little ease?

I chose cloud watching yesterday and this short 30 seconds video will be used throughout my week as a little a compassionate gift to myself

You are welcome to slow down your breathing, notice without judgement, expectation or desire and focus in on the patterns, colours and pace of the clouds moving

At Compassionate Connections with Maggie Murray we choose to be gentle on ourselves, to slow down and notice how we can take intentional small compassionate action throughout our day to take care of ourselves

This is the gift we can keep choosing to meet our own needs. Focusing on manageable moments and carving in more time throughout our day to suit your own needs

What helps you, what do you get comfort in engaging in to slow down your body and mind?

I love visuals to connect with throughout my day and I often have to pop these little moments into my calendar as a reminder especially on my busy work days

Slowly walking in nature, zooming in and out offers such curiosity to notice and connect with your senses

Pausing to notice the patterns, textures, colours, sweet or pleasant odors (even with hayfever)

Looking with a beginners mind as if its the first time you have ever seen it before with joy and investigation of wonder

Simply noticing, enjoying the tranquility of your experience without judgement, expectation or desire

Sunday morning 7.30 am

I have never been someone who can lay in especially when I can see the sun shining. Waking up early to the song of the birds really offers me a soothing rhythm for my nervous system regulation

I took myself for a short walk and sit by the lake under a spectacular tree with lots of bird vistors

Taking in some deeper breaths, slowing down my mind, pausing mindfully to notice every flickering of leaves on the branches, chirping of bird songs, warmth from the sun and cool breeze from the wind on my skin

Spotting the different patterns within the bark of the trees, and the birds hopping from branch to branch. Feeling incedibly grateful for offering myself this opportunity in engage within my beautiful surroundings

Instead of scrolling, or watching mindless hours of episodes of my favourite series which I can at times get caught up in. The choice to get out doors awakens me to the beauty of nature. It soothes my body and mind, alls the reflections bring such joy and wander

When did you last intentionally choose to sit to rest or gentle take an intentional sensory nature walk?

Can you carve out time to offer yourself a bit of nature connections today, if you do please share what you noticed, how it felt or the joy you experienced 🌳💚🌳

Spending time pausing in nature to take in to beauty of everything I see, hear, smell, and touch slows down my nervous system and starts to bring ease to my mind and body.

Connecting with the trees, water, sounds, and textures soothes me and offers me so much joy.

The sun, day light and breeze on my skin feels so nourishing. I am in my happy place musing, thinking deeply, dreaming quietly, and offering myself reflection, in a meditative manner.

This is how I choose to connect with my own sense of self and replenish my wellbeing 🌳💚🌳
