💉 Save the Date – Trent Valley Surgery Flu Clinics 💉

Our main Flu Vaccination Clinic will take place on Saturday 3rd October.

If you're eligible for an NHS flu vaccine, invitations will be sent out soon. Depending on your contact preferences, you'll receive a text message with a booking link, a telephone call, or a letter inviting you to book your appointment within the next 5 weeks.

Don't worry if you can't make the main clinic – we'll also be holding some mop-up clinics at both our Saxilby and Torksey surgeries throughout the flu season.

Please keep an eye out for your invitation.

Do not contact the surgery to book until you have had notification from us that the clinics are live.

🌿 Social Prescriber Clinics at Trent Valley Surgery 🌿

Our local Social Prescriber will be holding clinic sessions at the practice on 7 September and 26 October.
A Social Prescriber can support you with the things that can affect your health and wellbeing beyond medical treatment. They can connect you with local community services, groups and practical support tailored to your individual needs.
They can help with things such as:
• Feeling lonely or isolated
• Managing long-term health conditions
• Financial or debt concerns
• Housing, family or social difficulties
• Finding local groups, activities and support
• Other practical or emotional challenges affecting your wellbeing
You don't need to have a medical problem to benefit from social prescribing. Sometimes, having the right support at the right time can make a real difference. 💚

If you would like to speak with our Social Prescriber or arrange an appointment, please contact the practice.

If you have schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or psychosis, you can get a free health check once a year from your GP.

This check is different from other health checks or appointments you may already have.

Your GP should invite you. If they haven’t, you can contact your GP and ask for the check.

It’s your chance to talk about your health and how you’re feeling, ask questions, and get support.

Medical Exemption Certificate

You need a medical exemption certificate to claim free NHS prescriptions if you have a qualifying medical condition or physical disability.
To apply for your NHS medical exemption certificate, ask your GP surgery to start the process.
Without this certificate, you cannot claim free NHS prescriptions, even if you have a qualifying condition. If you claim free prescriptions without entitlement or a valid exemption certificate, you may receive a penalty charge of up to £100.

Patients are entitled to a medical exemption certificate if they have one of the
following conditions:
• a permanent fistula (for example, caecostomy, colostomy, laryngostomy or
ileostomy) which needs continuous surgical dressing or an appliance
• a form of hypoadrenalism (for example, Addison’s Disease) for which specific
substitution therapy is essential
• diabetes insipidus and other forms of hypopituitarism
• diabetes mellitus, except where treatment is by diet alone

People are being asked for their views on how the council can better support unpaid carers across the county.

There are an estimated 70,000 unpaid carers in Lincolnshire, supporting family members and friends who have a disability, a mental or physical illness or need extra help as they grow older.

The Lincolnshire Carers Service offers them a range of support, including a carers assessment. This important conversation gives carers the opportunity to reflect on their own situation and explore what might help them in both their caring role and their day-to-day life. All carers can access this support free of charge.

As part of the broader Lincolnshire Carers Service, Carers First currently provides wellbeing support, carer’s assessments, personalised support planning, practical and emotional support, and specialist advice on employment, benefits and complex caring situations. With the current contract due to end in October 2027, we are asking carers about their experiences and any improvements they would like to see, to help shape future services for unpaid carers.

Whether you currently use carers' services, have used them in the past, or have never accessed support, your vital feedback will help us shape future support for unpaid carers in Lincolnshire. You can share your views by completing the online survey at www.letstalk.lincolnshire.gov.uk/carers-service-survey-2026 before 23 August 2026.
