Some days just feel heavier.
I've learnt not to ignore those days or try to push through them. Instead, I try to give my brain what it needs.

A walk with the dogs. Fresh air. Looking up instead of down. Standing still long enough to watch the sunset.
There's good science behind it too. Our brains naturally pay more attention to what's wrong than what's right. It's called the negativity bias, and it's there to keep us safe. The problem is, when we're stressed or overwhelmed, we can stop noticing the things that help us feel grounded.
Taking a moment to really notice the sky, the trees, the sound of the birds or the dogs charging through the fields won't solve our problems. But it does remind the nervous system that we're safe in this moment.
Sometimes that's enough to make today feel a little lighter than it did an hour ago.
This evening, my reminder was four paws, a beautiful sunset a game of I spy"and a bit of perspective. 🤍

I've been down a bit of a rabbit hole lately...

It actually started because of my joints. After 21 years working as a nurse, my body has definitely taken a bit of a beating. And these days, getting out of bed in the morning sometimes feels like I need a full warm-up routine just to make it to the kettle. Then... BAM! Hello, perimenopause. 😅

The more I researched, the more I realised collagen isn't just collagen. There are different types, each with different roles, and I found myself reading about joint health, skin, muscles, brain health and how collagen may support us through midlife. A few of my friends had recommended Elevate Collagen too, which definitely made me curious.

After a lot of comparing, I decided to give Elevate Collagen a go. I ordered the 3 month supply because I know these things take time, and I have to admit, I was pretty impressed with all the freebies that arrived with it too!

I'll be sharing my honest experience over the next few months. No hype, just what I notice and whether it's made a difference for me.

If you're in the same season of life and have been wondering about collagen, I'd love to hear if you've tried it too.

I have a confession... I'm an opacarophile. 🌅

My camera roll is full of sunsets... and sunrises. I just can't help myself.

This evening I took Luna and Sky for a walk, and we were treated to another beautiful sunset. Every time I stop to watch one, I'm reminded that some of the best things in life are completely free.

There's some fascinating neuroscience around the feeling of awe. Awe is that sense of wonder you experience when you watch a sunset, stand beside the sea, or look up at a sky full of stars. Research suggests these moments can help calm our nervous system, reduce stress, and gently shift our attention away from what's weighing us down and back to the present moment.

Maybe that's why I'm so drawn to them.

In a world that encourages us to rush from one thing to the next, sunsets invite us to pause. To look up. To breathe. To remember that beauty still exists, even on the hard days.

So, are there any fellow opacarophiles here? I'd love to know. Better still, share your favourite sunset (or sunrise!) in the comments. Let's fill this little corner of the internet with a bit more awe. 💛

Some weeks feel heavier than others.

Last week I've been feeling a little flat. Not broken, not in crisis, just emotionally tired. Working in trauma and bereavement is a privilege, but it also reminds me that we all need to protect our own wellbeing too.

Yesterday, someone gave me these beautiful sunflowers. Such a simple gesture, but it made me stop. It reminded me how important it is to notice the small things , a kind word, a bunch of flowers, a walk in the garden, the smell of fresh coffee, a laugh with someone you love.

Those little moments don't magically fix everything, but they can gently remind us that there is still light to be found, even on difficult days.

It's also why I do what I do. Whether through my role supporting families after trauma or through Wild Dragonfly Wellbeing, I believe healing often begins with feeling seen, heard and cared for. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness have the biggest impact.

If you're having one of those heavier weeks too, I hope you find your sunflower today. 🌻

What's one small thing that's brought you joy this week?

Midlife isn’t the end of your story.
It’s the season where many women finally begin listening to themselves.
After years of holding everything together for everyone else, it’s okay to pause, reflect and choose yourself too.
You do not need all the answers right now.
You only need the courage to take the next right step.
Whether you’re navigating stress, burnout, hormonal changes, anxiety, loss of confidence or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, you are not failing. You are evolving.
Healing doesn’t always look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like rest.
Boundaries.
Breathing deeper.
Saying no without guilt.
Coming home to yourself again.

To all my incredible Nurse friends thank you. 💙

For your compassion when people are at their most vulnerable, for the strength you show on the hardest days, and for the care you give that often goes unseen… you make a difference every single day.

Nursing is so much more than a profession. It’s resilience, empathy, advocacy, courage and heart. It’s holding hands through fear, bringing calm in chaos, and continuing to show up even when the world feels heavy.

After 21 years in nursing, I feel proud to stand alongside such dedicated people. I see the emotional labour, the sacrifices, the long shifts, the teamwork, the dark humour that gets us through, and the genuine kindness that changes lives.

Today I just wanted to acknowledge every nurse, whether you’re at the bedside, in the community, emergency care, mental health, leadership, education or supporting families behind the scenes or even if tou are retired, You matter more than you know.

Thank you for all that you do. 🩺✨

✨ Introducing the new brand, Wild Dragonfly ✨
This rebrand feels really personal to me.
It’s not just a new logo, it’s creating a brand that finally feels aligned with who I am, how I work and the kind of space I want to create for people. 🤍
The dragonfly has always felt significant because it represents change, resilience and transformation. So many of the people I work with come to me feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious or disconnected from themselves, and watching them slowly reconnect and grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
I also chose to include the crescent moon in the logo because, for me, it symbolises growth, intuition and new beginnings. The moon moves through phases, just like we do in life , and healing is rarely linear. Sometimes it’s about slowing down, reflecting, resetting and learning to trust yourself again.
I wanted the overall feel of Wild Dragonfly to be calm, grounded and natural, whilst still professional and evidence-based.
Rooted in science, but delivered with compassion and genuine human connection.
As part of this next chapter, I’ll also be offering more Medical Acupuncture alongside Clinical Hypnotherapy combining evidence-based techniques to support both physical and emotional wellbeing. Whether it’s stress, anxiety, chronic tension, sleep, pain or simply feeling burnt out, my aim is to help people feel more balanced, regulated and connected to themselves again.
After 21 years in healthcare, I know how easy it is for people to end up simply existing rather than truly living. Wild Dragonfly is about creating a safe, supportive space where people feel listened to, understood and empowered to heal.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far. I’m really excited for where this journey is heading. 🤍

I’m really looking forward to supporting a special menopause event on 16th May 💗

This is a topic that’s incredibly important to me, not just professionally, but personally too (I know! I don't look old enough) . So many women are navigating menopause feeling unheard, overwhelmed, and like they’ve lost themselves, or even worse, like they’re simply existing… and it doesn’t have to be that way.

I’m excited to be sharing how hypnotherapy and acupuncture can gently support you through this transition, rooted in science and delivered with heart. There’s growing evidence showing how these approaches can help regulate the nervous system, improve sleep, reduce anxiety, and support symptoms like hot flushes and emotional imbalance.

Menopause doesn't have to be an ending, it’s a powerful shift, and with the right support, it can be a time of real transformation 🌿

If you’re coming along, I can’t wait to meet you. And if you’re curious, feel free to reach out, I’m always happy to chat.
