📱 Just one more scroll…

You pick up your phone to check one thing.

A message. The time. Maybe the weather.

And suddenly, 45 minutes have disappeared and you’re knee-deep in bad news, arguments, worrying stories and things you really didn’t need to see before bed.

That’s doomscrolling.

But why is it so hard to stop?

It’s not simply about having “no willpower”. Our brains are naturally drawn to negative information, and social media is designed to keep us engaged. That unpredictable feeling of “maybe the next post will be interesting” can keep us scrolling far longer than we intended.

And while it might feel like we’re keeping ourselves informed or trying to feel more in control, doomscrolling can actually leave us feeling more anxious, stressed and unable to switch off.

So, if you’ve found yourself saying “I really need to stop doing this” while scrolling at 11.30pm… you’re definitely not alone.

Our latest blog looks at why we doomscroll, what it can do to our wellbeing and some simple ways to start breaking the habit.

Mental health support doesn’t just help individuals — it helps entire organisations.

Employee Assistance Programmes can create a culture where wellbeing is taken seriously and employees feel supported in their roles.

Benefits can include:

🌿 Improved morale
🌿 Stronger workplace relationships
🌿 Greater resilience within teams
🌿 A more positive workplace culture

EAP programmes also provide organisations with valuable insights into wellbeing trends, helping them strengthen their wellbeing strategies over time.

We work with organisations to create supportive environments where employees can truly thrive.

If your organisation is interested in learning more about EAP support, we’d love to connect.

Today is National Grief Awareness Day.

Grief is something we will all experience at some point in our lives, yet it can often feel like one of the loneliest journeys. Today is a reminder that there is no right or wrong way to grieve, and no set timeline for healing.

Whether you're grieving the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a job, your health, or another significant life change, your feelings are valid. Everyone's experience of grief is unique, and it's okay to ask for support when you need it.

National Grief Awareness Day encourages us to talk more openly about grief, support those who are grieving, and remind one another that no one has to face loss alone.

If you or someone you know is struggling with grief, reaching out to a trusted friend, family member or professional counsellor can be an important step. We're here to provide a safe, compassionate space whenever you're ready. đź’ś

What is counselling?

A lot of people think counselling is only for when you're in crisis, but that's not the case.

Counselling gives you the time and space to talk about what's on your mind with someone who will listen without judgement. It isn't about being told what to do. It's about helping you understand your thoughts and feelings, work through what's happening and find a way forward that feels right for you.

Sometimes just saying things out loud can be the first step towards feeling better.

It's okay to be nervous

Feeling nervous before your first appointment is completely normal.

Meeting someone new and talking about personal things isn't easy. That's why your first session is often about getting to know each other, explaining how counselling works and making sure you feel comfortable.

You're in control of what you share and when you share it. đź’ś

Taking the first step

The hardest part is often reaching out.

Whether you've been thinking about counselling for weeks, months or even years, asking for support is a positive step.

You don't have to keep everything to yourself, and you don't have to face life's challenges alone.

If you're wondering whether counselling could help, we're always happy to answer your questions and help you understand what to expect.
