The Manor’s illustrious history can be traced back to 1816, but it was only between the world wars that that the Estate came to prominence. It was at this time that the Royal family, including the then Princess Elizabeth, would come to stay at Greathed, joining for tennis parties and picnics. The Home also has a long pedigree
in nursing and tending to the frail. During war time it served as a Hospital for service men, and after 1958, it was converted to provide 22 retirement apartments for the elderly. In 2008, the Home was adapted to provide luxurious accommodation for elderly nursing clients. Many of the bedrooms are mini-suites, and provide unrivalled views of the countryside. All rooms are decorated to a high standard and have their own showers, freeview televisions and private phones. There is a choice of three lounges and a dining room, as well as many other facilities such as hairdressing salon. Greathed Manor employs a highly qualified, experienced and dedicated team of staff who work closely with residents to ensure a continuously high standard of person-centred care. The focus is on individual needs with an emphasis on choice. We are expanding our links with the local community and hold regular public events in aid of good causes. Just wanted to tell you all about a beautiful place with the most amazing people. It’s a nursing home in Dormansland. Sadly, I lost my beautiful Mum yesterday and the people there, Jo the manager, Paige, nursing staff and care workers were so kind and caring to her during her brief stay. I can’t thank them all enough. Until you lose a person in your life that has always given you unconditional love, there is little comfort. But to know her Spirit was set free in a place with such lovely tranquil energy and that I can go there and feel near her is something I can do when the raw pain has dimmed a little.
