The start of our visual reference album for you to work with on your dog portraits

As part of June’s various“Bring your dog to work” campaigns we are opening up our Dog Portrait Project that’s been in the pipeline for a while and we want YOU to be a part of it!

As those who’ve stayed with us will know our dogs are an important part of life at Oakleigh House. Multiple staff have them and bring them to work and they play an important part of the vibe here for both guests and staff.

The brief was to have portraits of both our current doggies and those who’ve passed on the walls at Oakleigh and to commemorate our special relationship.

We have been give the space up the stairs to work with so quiet a lot of room and you can be as macro through to A3 size.

Artworks can be in any medium you like, from stretch canvas, felt, decoupage, original photos with decorated frames, recycled materials, the world is your oyster!

If you’d like to talk through any ideas and to feel creatively supported, please get in touch with Sophie via our messenger who would love to discuss things further.

We will upload more photos for you to work from in the coming week, but please feel free to work from your own original photos too, just as long as they don’t feature any people, this is most definitely a dog’s only project.

We can’t wait to hear what you will come up with!

We’d like to aim for a deadline so we can get them all up together so asking for things to be finished by the end of August.

We’ve had a little project on the brew for a little while and it’s almost time to reveal 🥳😍👀

We know we have many talented guests and so much of what we do has you at the centre. Join me (Sophie) and let’s create something special for the house ✨

I personally have always loved this Poem by Mary Oliver and have found it so helpful to read inspirational writing and poetry day to day.

We can disappear into books and find ourselves in other worlds, where possibilities become realities and where for a time we can forget the outside world and our troubles.

Remember all that lovely weather we had?! 😅

Well, two of our guests helped us by pressure washing our garden space and doesn’t it look lovely! Also one of their mummies only went and bought us this fabulous umbrella so now we have a bit more shade and cover.

We don’t ask that you do anything while you stay with us here BUT we are ever so greatful to anyone who is able to muck in. It’s your place and you also make it what it is.

So thanks guys, absolutely stellar job!!!
