Saturday swim lessons with Emily for the perfect Pixie this morning.

Pixie started her puppy swims with us to help gain water confidence and build strength and stamina for her agility and showing future.

🐾 Is your dog suddenly skipping on one back leg?

It may look harmless, especially if they quickly carry on as normal but it can sometimes be a sign of an underlying orthopaedic issue.

Common causes can include:
• Luxating patella (slipping kneecap)
• Cruciate ligament injury
• Hip problems
• Muscle or soft tissue strains
• Arthritis or joint pain

Some dogs will intermittently “hop” or hold the leg up for a few steps before using it normally again. If you notice persistent skipping or worsening lameness, you should always consult your vet for an examination.

At Cornwall Veterinary Referrals, our orthopaedic team can help investigate the cause with advanced imaging, diagnostics, and tailored treatment plans to keep your dog comfortable and active. 🐶

ADDERS are out!!

Keep your babies safe this time of year 🙏❤️

They’re found in:

• Heathland & moorland

• Coastal paths & sand dunes

• Long grass, bracken & woodland edges

• Sunny, sheltered spots (they like to bask!)

Try to avoid these areas completely, if you cant at least keep dogs on leads in these areas and keep an eye on where they’re sniffing

If your dog gets bitten:

• Stay calm and keep them as still as possible

• Carry them if you can (to slow venom spread)

• Call your vet immediately or head straight there

• Don’t try to mess with the bite

Common signs of a bite:

• Sudden yelp or pain

• Swelling (usually around face or leg)

• Lethargy, drooling, or limping

Adder bites can be serious but are rarely fatal if treated quickly.

As we come to the end of another year, I just wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful clients for your continued support, kindness and understanding over the past year.

While I’ve been more in the background during my maternity leave.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Emily for doing a fantastic job holding the fort and continuing the treatment of our existing customers and meeting many new ones.
