I’ve had several patients come into clinic saying 👇🏼

“I had Botox somewhere else, but it didn’t get rid of my lines.”

And this is where understanding the difference between dynamic and static wrinkles is really important.

Dynamic wrinkles are lines that appear or become deeper when we move our facial muscles. Think frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet.

These are the lines that toxin is particularly good at treating.

Toxin works by temporarily reducing the movement of the targeted muscles.

Less movement = less repeated folding of the skin, which can soften the appearance of dynamic lines and, over time, may help prevent them from becoming deeper.

STATIC wrinkles are lines that are still visible when your face is completely relaxed.

They can develop over time due to repeated facial movement, collagen and elastin changes, sun exposure and ageing.

If a line has become etched into the skin, Botox may soften it by reducing the muscle movement contributing to it, but it doesn’t simply iron the skin flat.

Think of it like folding a piece of paper repeatedly.

Stopping the folding can prevent it from getting deeper, but the crease doesn’t necessarily disappear immediately.

Sometimes static lines need a combination approach, depending on what is causing them and where they are — this could include skincare, skin treatments, collagen stimulating treatments or resurfacing treatments.

So if you’ve had toxin and still have some lines, it doesn’t automatically mean your Botox “hasn’t worked.”

It may mean the line you’re seeing is no longer purely a movement related wrinkle.

It’s about understanding why the line is there in the first place, choosing the right treatment for the right problem, and having realistic expectations about what each treatment can and can’t do.

A special night 🌒 Feeling lucky to have captured it.

Let the eclipse be a reminder that whenever the light disappears, it will always find its way back & sometimes there is magic in the darkness. 💫

…Because what a privilege it is to grow old.

I don’t want to turn back the clock for my patients.

I don’t want to make them look 20 again.

I don’t want to erase every line, every change, every sign of a life well lived.

I want to help them age in a way that still feels true to who they are.

There’s a big difference.

One chases something impossible.

The other supports something real.

For me, aesthetics isn’t about changing who you are.

It’s about helping you feel confident, refreshed and comfortable in the face you see looking back at you at every stage of your life.

Because growing older isn’t something we should be ashamed of.

It’s something we’re incredibly lucky to do. 🤍

Aesthetic treatments might only take an hour, but the responsibility that comes with performing them safely never stops.

Every face is different.

Every treatment needs careful consideration.

Every decision matters.

It’s not just about knowing where to inject, it’s understanding anatomy, recognising risk, knowing when to say no, having the knowledge to manage complications, and continually educating yourself as the industry evolves.

I will never take the trust you place in me lightly.

Behind every treatment is years of training, experience, learning and responsibility because your safety will always come before the treatment.

That’s the part you don’t always see. 🤍

LOOK AT ALL THOSE LOVELY VESSELS 🤯

Unfortunately, with any injection there is ALWAYS a risk of bruising.

Underneath the skin are thousands of tiny blood vessels, so even when we’re extremely careful, a needle can occasionally catch one, making bruising a very common side effect of injectable treatments.

But if you’re considering fa treatment, there are a few things you can do to help minimise the chances of bruising before it starts ⬇️

✨ Stay well hydrated before and after your treatment.

✨ Avoid alcohol and caffeine before and after your appointment.

✨ Avoid vigorous exercise for 24–48 hours after your treatment.

✨ Consider taking arnica tablets before your appointment.

✨ Wait 24 hours before applying make-up to the treated area.

And remember… even when we do everything right, bruising can still happen! It’s one of those things that unfortunately comes with injecting into the skin. 💉🤍
