Such a great morning with such lovely children at the second of my summer specials in Ely.

I woke at 4am worrying I didn’t have enough prepared to keep them happy and busy, but I need not have worried as we were busy and having fun from start to finish!

I didn’t take photos (again!) but remembered at the last moment to take one of the T-shirts they designed.

It really was a special morning seeing children I work with come together in a different environment, making friends, having really meaningful and supportive conversations alongside meeting some new children who were an absolute pleasure to get to know.

A fun and free Youth Fusion event will be taking place at The Recreation Ground, Sutton, on Wednesday 19 August.

Youth Fusion events provide an opportunity for young people aged 5 to 18 to try their hand at sporting activities with clubs operating locally or try activities like a climbing wall, street art workshops, multi sports, first aid training and mobile gym.

The Youth Fusion event will be held between 11am and 3pm. The site is fully accessible, and attendees are advised to take their own water bottles for refills on the day. Limited parking is available.

Due to some cancellations I have some last minute availability for tomorrow’s Blooming Youth summer special.

We will be:
- designing t-shirts
- making gratitude jars
- decorating rocks
- making clay bead bracelets
- playing some group games
- solving a spot the difference
- enjoying a yummy lunch

10.30am - 1.30pm at Centre E in Ely
£35 - all resources, food and drink included.

5 things you can say to your child when they seem overwhelmed

Being overwhelmed is when a child’s emotions, thoughts, or surroundings feel like too much to cope with all at once. They may struggle to think clearly, communicate what they need, or manage their behaviour.
It can look different from child to child — they might become tearful, angry, withdrawn, restless, quiet, or say they “can’t do it.”
It can be a sign that a child needs support, space, connection, or help breaking things down into smaller steps.

Booking for the Blooming Youth Summer Special closes tomorrow!

We’ll be designing wellbeing T-shirts, making gratitude jars, enjoying fun activities, and sharing a yummy lunch together.

There are also two more Blooming Youth Club sessions running over the summer before we return to our weekly sessions in September. We’ll be exploring the importance of asking for help, how to do it, and creating morning and evening routines to help everyone feel prepared for the return to school.

I also have 1:1 sessions available, plus the option for a free 30-minute introductory session. It’s a great opportunity to see the Blooming Youth space, get to know me, and see if it’s the right fit before committing.

Blooming Youth Club is on tomorrow.
We will be thinking about managing the school holidays/changes to routine and tackling boredom, with the usual time to explore all resources and have a snack!

When: Wednesday 29th July
Where : Blooming Youth - Unit 3m Saxon Business Park, Littleport

What a lovely morning at the first of our two Summer Specials in Ely!

As it was the first event of its kind, I have to admit I was feeling quite nervous. More than anything, I just hoped all the children had a great time.

We decorated mugs, made fidget pebbles (and lots of other creations!) from air-dry clay, had a go at friendship bracelets, built with LEGO, played Dobble and Connect 4, and there were so many beautiful pictures drawn. I was even lucky enough to be given the drawing pictured, which now has pride of place in my Blooming Youth space.

Overall, it felt like a real success, and I’m already looking forward to finalising plans for our next session on 12th August, taking on board the children’s feedback from their evaluations (including one very important request for cheese strings!).

Thank you to everyone who came today. As always, I really appreciate you entrusting me with your wonderful children.
