Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 💜

We never forget how people make us feel during the hardest moments of our lives.

Bereavement can affect every part of a person’s wellbeing, emotionally, mentally, physically and practically.

That’s why compassionate action is for all of us.

🟣 Recognising when someone may be struggling following a bereavement.
🟣 Taking time to listen with kindness and empathy.
🟣 Understanding how grief can affect mental health and daily functioning.
🟣 Encouraging people to access support before they reach crisis point.
🟣 Signposting or referring someone to services that may help them feel supported and less alone.
🟣 Working together across health, social care, bereavement and community services to provide timely support.

At Funeral Experts, we know collaborative working and compassionate conversations can make a significant difference during some of the most difficult times in a person’s life.

Sometimes one conversation, one referral, or one act of support can change how someone copes moving forward 💜

If you, or someone you know, may benefit from bereavement or end-of-life support, Funeral Experts are here to help.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 💜

Bereavement is more than grief.

For many people, it can also bring an overwhelming mental load:

🟣 Paperwork and administration.
🟣 Phone calls and appointments.
🟣 Financial worries and urgent decisions.
🟣 Funeral planning and practical responsibilities.
🟣 Housing, legal or estate-related issues.
🟣 Trying to process loss whilst still managing everyday life.

When someone is grieving, even small tasks can feel exhausting.

Practical support during bereavement is mental health support too.

At Funeral Experts, we see how timely intervention, advocacy and collaborative working between bereavement services, healthcare professionals and community support services can make a significant difference to someone’s wellbeing during times of loss and crisis.

Sometimes helping someone complete one task, make one phone call, or understand one next step can reduce huge emotional pressure.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 💜

When someone is grieving, they often focus on everyone else first.

But grief can affect every part of a person’s wellbeing, emotionally, physically, mentally and practically.

Sometimes the smallest actions can help:

🟣 Taking a moment to rest when everything feels overwhelming.
🟣 Accepting support instead of trying to manage everything alone.
🟣 Stepping outside for fresh air or a short walk.
🟣 Giving yourself permission to step away from paperwork and practical tasks for a while and focus on yourself, your family, or something that brings comfort.
🟣 Reaching out for support before things begin to feel unmanageable.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve, and nobody should feel they have to go through it alone.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 💜

Grief can feel incredibly isolating.

Sometimes people don’t need answers; they just need someone willing to stay present with them.

🟣 Checking in on someone after a bereavement.
🟣 Offering practical help when everyday tasks feel overwhelming.
🟣 Encouraging someone to accept support when they are struggling.
🟣 Listening without judgement or trying to “fix” grief.
🟣 Telling someone about a service that may help them feel less alone.
🟣 Helping someone access support before they reach crisis point.

Often, people only access support because someone else recognises they are struggling, whether that’s a friend, healthcare professional, colleague, family member or another support service.

At Funeral Experts, we know timely intervention, compassionate conversations and collaborative support can make a significant difference during bereavement and end-of-life experiences.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 💜

In bereavement support, we see every day how small actions can make a lasting difference.

🟣 Being the calm voice when someone doesn’t know what to do next.
🟣 Helping families navigate funeral arrangements when grief feels overwhelming.
🟣 Supporting people to access financial help and complete urgent paperwork.
🟣 Being beside someone while they process devastating news.
🟣 Working with services to reduce stress and prevent situations from escalating.
🟣 Explaining the next steps when life suddenly feels unmanageable.

Awareness matters, but compassionate action matters too.

At Funeral Experts, we work closely alongside health and social care professionals to provide timely support, reduce additional distress, and help prevent people reaching crisis point during bereavement and end-of-life experiences.

Support can be emotional, practical and financial, and often begins with the very first conversation.

This week we’ll be highlighting how timely support, compassionate action and practical help can make a meaningful difference to people experiencing grief, bereavement and end-of-life challenges.

Dying Matters Awareness Week 2026 takes place from 4–10 May, with this year’s theme: “Let’s talk about Death and Dying.” 💜

Having conversations about death and dying isn’t always easy, but talking openly can help people feel more informed, more prepared, and more in control of the decisions that matter most to them and their loved ones.

At Funeral Experts, we understand how emotional and overwhelming these conversations can feel. That’s why we’re here to offer guidance, support, and reassurance every step of the way.

Whether you’re planning ahead, supporting someone close to you, or simply starting the conversation, you don’t have to face it alone.

Yesterday, we attended Trafford Council’s Community Bereavement Event at Sale Town Hall, as part of National Dying Matters Week.

It was a real privilege to spend the day with residents, professionals and local organisations, all coming together to talk openly about bereavement, end-of-life care, funeral choices and the support available to families when they need it most.

We made some great new connections, renewed long-standing friendships, and especially enjoyed spending time with Dave Jennings, Bereavement Services Manager at Trafford Council, and Jill Johnson from IFDC, one of our dearest friends and supporters, a Funeral Director Tutor and a passionate advocate for compassionate bereavement care.

Events like this are so important. Bereavement affects every one of us, yet too many people still feel alone, overwhelmed or unsure where to turn when someone dies.

At Funeral Experts, we believe every bereaved family should have access to independent, transparent and compassionate support, helping them understand their choices and access practical guidance with dignity and confidence.

A huge thank you to Trafford Council, Dave Jennings and everyone involved in organising such a thoughtful and valuable event.

We look forward to expanding our services across Greater Manchester and supporting more residents, families and frontline teams.

Today’s reports from Lancashire will understandably worry bereaved families.

It would be wrong to comment on a live investigation, and everyone is entitled to due process.

But this does reinforce something important.

Families should not be left to choose a funeral director alone, under pressure, without clear information and proper safeguards.

Competition and Markets Authority compliance should be treated as a minimum trust marker. It is not perfect, and it is not a substitute for proper regulation, but the requirements are basic: price transparency, clear terms of business, disclosure of interests and fair sales practices.

If a funeral director cannot meet those basic standards, they should not be presented to bereaved families as a comparable option through any responsible support pathway.

At Funeral Experts, we are deliberately cautious. To date, the recently publicly investigated funeral directors have not appeared on FuneralExperts.com because they did not meet the transparency standards required for inclusion.

This is not about attacking funeral directors. The majority of funeral directors do vital, compassionate and dignified work every day, often under considerable pressure.

It is about protecting bereaved families at one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

Until the government closes the regulatory gap, families need independent support, transparent choices and practical safeguards now.
