Hey everyone, every now and then I like to introduce myself and tell you about how I ended up restoring graves and making a business out of it. (This is long winded sorry)
My name is Danny and I own Grave Care Liverpool. I worked in Jaguar Land Rover monotonously building cars for 13 years in total. I also lost my nan on Christmas Day in 2018 who we loved and cherished.
I was working a late shift one night in 2020 and wondered who could give her grave a spruce and a clean and surprisingly found the was no such type of business. All I could find was stone masons who wasn’t going to do what I was looking for so I immediately thought the is a gap in the market.
I made the business logo during this shift, went home and started researching more on what to do and how to do it. I just had this instant drive and I don’t know why but after like a week of asking around and finding similar services around the country only one company had the decency to reply and not only reply but teach me everything I possibly needed to know and more.
I went out and done some family graves and tried posting them, aswell as offering jobs for £10 just to get me started and hopefully build up a customer base. This took off dramatically a couple of months after starting because Covid hit!! People couldn’t do anything but go on walks etc so the enquiries started coming and little jobs was filtering through. Once lockdown had ended I had a nice little business to keep me busy over the weekend.
This grew quite a lot over the next couple of years and was actually quite busy but I still had drive to make it bigger and better. I left JLR on the basis that the business was big enough to have a go with and also get me out of a job that I hated.
This lasted about 6 months, getting married, honeymoon etc and panicked just relying on my own income.
I then started in a power plant in the October aswell as building my business around the shifts but this wasn’t for me either. During working here we sadly lost my mother in law which led to us finding a headstone and also led us to my my future/current job.
After her headstone was fitted I stayed in contact with the boss, learning and asking for help on anything that would help me with my business….low and behold after a random question of would he consider employing me in something I am interested and passionate about…. A few months later I left the powerplant and here I am with a cracking little business that is constantly growing aswell as working as a stonemason 5 days a week.
It’s not what I would have said I wanted to do years ago but it’s what I believe I was destined to do.
The world works in funny ways and it all stemmed from a quick thought nearly 7 years ago.
