Meniscal tears can be rehabbed without surgery
Had a patient that was due to see me privately who went to see an NHS Physio and was told that no physio is going to help that meniscal tear and you need an injection and surgery 🙄
Consequently, we’re I could have helped this patient, they have now decided to go with the incorrect advice and now opting for injections and surgery.
Here is the thing:
⏺️ if the knee is locking then surgery would be needed, but the knee was not locking.
⏺️ I can surgically repair a meniscus as I am not a surgeon
But here are the facts:
⏺️ I have rehabbed many meniscus tears without surgery and got people back into high level sport and daily activities
⏺️ if you get the tissues around the knee doing a great job, the muscles will do the work and the knee will do less irrespective of meniscal tears
Just wanted to warn you all, if you see or hear this advice without even trying to help you first, run a mile and get a second opinion, as these people do not have the skills to be able to treat patients.
