St Joseph's Hospice St. Joseph's Hospice is the oldest and largest hospice on Merseyside. The hospice in Thornton, opened in 1974.

St Joseph's Hospice (or Jospice) was founded in 1962 by Father Francis O’Leary, while working as a young priest in Pakistan. It is the oldest and largest hospice on Merseyside and has been providing palliative and end of life care for adult patients from across Liverpool, Sefton, Knowsley and West Lancashire for more than 40 years. We are a registered charity and our specialist nursing teams care

for over 200 people with a wide range of conditions every year. We also care for and support our patients’ families and carers. We have 29 patient rooms and are fortunate to be located in a beautiful setting within a conservation area and 12 acres of natural woodland. We do not charge for our care and rely on our local communities to continue to support the hospice. Around two-thirds of our funding comes from charitable giving, including donations, fundraising and legacies.

Experience this exciting race through and around the iconic Hill Dickinson Stadium, home of Everton Football Club, as well as other amazing landmarks of Liverpool along the waterfront. while raising vital funds to support the compassionate care provided by St Joseph's Hospice.

A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers from the University of Liverpool School of Dentistry who recently joined us at St Joseph’s Hospice as part of their volunteering pledge. 💚

They did a fantastic job renovating and revitalising the fence around our grounds, giving the area a much-needed refresh and helping to keep our hospice environment looking its very best. 🌿✨

We are incredibly grateful for the time, energy and hard work you all put in. Your support makes a real difference to St Joseph’s Hospice and the people we care for.

🌼🎉 What a fantastic day we had at our Family Fun Day this afternoon!

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it an afternoon of fun & laughter.

We had Jemsie's ice cream, a fire engine, glitter tattoos by Ella, candy floss & popcorn from Swag & Bows Party Hire and Sweetmaze. Our Bakebox was also open.

Boo's Mobile Zoo came along with a snake, gecko, meerkat, bald guinea pigs and turtles. It wasn't just the kids who liked the animals, the adults were mesmerised too 🐢🦎🐍

Keith Robertson brought the music and got everyone singing & dancing!

We also took a moment to remember loved ones, as their names were written on our red balloons and are in the hospice grounds for the next few days ♥️

Thank you to our Health Care Assistant, Lisa, who organised the day for our patients, families & local community. And thank to you the staff & volunteers who helped make it a fantastic day.
