👣Did you know??👣
👣Podiatrists follow strict infection control guidelines. This includes strict sterilisation of all instruments through a step by step cleaning process before they enter a large machine called an Autoclave which sterilisation occurs at 137 degrees in fully sealed sterile pouches. Other ways we follow these guidelines is by working from a sterile clean environment at all times. We use PPE to reduce contamination too.
⚠️Once an instrument pack is used, it goes away to our Autoclave cleaning room to start it's process. All of our blades are single use! And are disposed of in a sharps bin and collected by our clinical waste company. All Podiatrists should dispose of their clinical waste in the correct way and be Registered with a clinical waste company.
If you attend another place to get your feet done, ask them what their infection control protocol is. You want to make sure you're in safe hands and not at risk of cross contamination/ infection. Never go somewhere that doesn't have an infection control protocol and staff training on this.
Even our professional scrubs uniform is washed on 60 degrees to kill any nasties that may sneak onto our clothing 🤢 example: fungal nails, skin, verruca tissue.
👣Knowledge is key when being a Podiatrist and our Podiatrists are happy for you to ask questions about your foot health. We undergo regular CPD hours to make sure our knowledge is up to date with health care changes every month. As part of your care, we provide you with extensive knowledge when required to help you understand your foot health. We have Podiatrists in our clinic with extensive knowledge on Diabetic footcare, vascular assessment and Ingrown Toenails, Dermatology of the lower limb, Detecting suspected Cancer lesions, Nail pathology, experience with Dementia patients.
👣Registered Podiatrist is a protected title and cannot be used by those who have not qualified at University with a Degree in Podiatry. If you see someone using the title Podiatrist or Chiropodist, make sure you get their Registered details from the Health and care professions Council (HCPC).
