Happy International Women's Day from everyone at Brook. We are built on a proud history of pioneering women who fought for sexual health and rights.

Our founder, Helen Brook, opened the first Brook clinic in 1964 with the aim of reducing the need for illegal abortions and to empower unmarried women to take charge of their sexual health. Despite fierce opposition, she refused to let stigma stand in the way of what was needed, and continued to provide free contraception and confidential sexual health advice.

Today Brook is proud to continue in her trailblazing footsteps by providing high quality, holistic sexual health and wellbeing services to any young people that need them.

RSE at Home with Brook, our free Q&A for parents and carers, is taking place tomorrow at 2pm on the topic of body image!

It will be hosted by Francesca, a Brook Education and Wellbeing Specialist, and she'll be covering FAQs like how to speak to your child about body image, and what kind of impact social media can have on young people's body image.

Happy 2021!

As we enter a New Year, there is often a lot of dialogue around changing ourselves and setting new goals. This can be really positive and if you want to set some intentions, a new year is often good motivation to do so. But we must also remind young people to be gentle with themselves. 2020 was a year full of change and challenges, we should encourage our young people to acknowledge the strength it took to get through the rough patches.

This month's RSE at Home with Brook will be on the topic of CONSENT! We know consent can be a particularly daunting topic so this quick 30 min session will help answer the most common FAQs and equip you with some tools to navigate conversations around this subject with your young person.

It will be hosted by Helen Dring who is a Brook Education and Wellbeing Specialist, as well as having previously worked as a teacher and Special Educational Needs co-ordinator - so we can't think of anyone better to give you advice in this area!

The live will be on Thursday 17 at 2pm and available to catch up on at any time on BrookCharity page after the live.
