I'll be honest, I did not expect this.
In one week, my posts about this campaign reached 950,000 people. Across every platform since we started, we are now past a million!
I did not build a comms team to make that happen. I built a campaign because I am still waiting, after six years, for justice. Turns out I was not the only one waiting.

A million people now know nurses can be suspended for years with no finding against them, and that the regulator meant to protect the public has failed its own standards. That is not a viral moment. That is a profession finally being believed.

Thank you to everyone who shared, commented, or simply stopped scrolling long enough to read someone's story.

We are not slowing down.

In case you missed it, last night I featured on ITV News Granada speaking about the devastating impact of NMC delays, and why lives are being lost while nurses wait years for their cases to be heard.
Almost six years on from my own case beginning, I’m still waiting. And I know I am not alone. Figures show more than a quarter of nurses facing a fitness to practise hearing are waiting longer than the recommended 15 months, and since 2018 at least 18 healthcare workers are known to have taken their own lives while waiting for their cases to be heard.
This is why Justice for Nurses exists. Over 2,500 nurses have now signed our petition and 300 have shared their own stories. These are not statistics. These are nurses who have given their lives to caring for others, and who have been broken by a system that claims to protect the public while destroying the professionals who serve it.
Parliament must ask, who is regulating the regulator?

Huge step forward for Justice for Nurses. 🩺
Five MPs, Peter Dowd, Seamus Logan, Andy MacNae, Kim Johnson and Ian Byrne are now backing calls for a parliamentary inquiry into the NMC and a Westminster Hall Debate after I’ve waited over six years for my fitness to practise case to be heard.
This isn’t just my story. It’s the story of every nurse left in limbo by a broken regulatory system careers on hold, mental health suffering, and no accountability for the delays.

In 2018, Dr Sridharan Suresh took his own life on the same day he was told he was under GMC investigation.
His family took the regulator to court, arguing it owed him a duty of care for his mental health during that process.
Last week, the Court of Appeal ruled against them. Not because the regulator did nothing wrong emotionally, the judges called it a very sad case, but because in law, regulators like the GMC and the NMC owe no duty of care to the people they investigate at all. Their duty, by statute, is to protect the public. Not the person under investigation.
This is not just about doctors. Nurses face the same legal gap, every single day, in a process that can run for years with no guarantee anyone even has to consider their wellbeing.
This is exactly why we are calling for a select committee inquiry, and exactly why an APPG on Professional Regulators cannot stop at the NMC. Every regulator in this country operates under the same statutory gap. Courts have said plainly this is not theirs to fix. It is Parliament’s.

How is it fair that a nurse can find out about their own case from a newspaper before they have even been formally notified?
We have heard this story again and again. Cases appearing in the press before they are live on the NMC’s own system. Registrants finding out what is happening to their career from a journalist, not from their regulator.
When this is raised, the response is almost always the same. An internal investigation, run by the NMC, into the NMC. No independent oversight. No real accountability to the person whose life has just been upended by a story they did not even know was public yet.
This is not about any single case. This is a pattern, and it is one more example of a regulator that marks its own homework.
