I’ve been a member of the Association of Reflexologists for over 10 years now. Being a member of the Association of Reflexologists (often shortened to AoR) means you’re part of the main professional body representing reflexology practitioners in the UK. It’s not just a title—it comes with standards, responsibilities, and benefits.

What it means in practice:

1. You meet professional standards.
Members must have completed an approved reflexology qualification. The AoR checks training quality, so membership signals that you’re properly trained.

2. You follow a strict code of ethics
You agree to practice safely, professionally, and respectfully. This includes:

* Client confidentiality
* Clear boundaries
* Honest communication about what reflexology can and can’t do

3. You commit to ongoing learning
Members are expected to keep improving their skills through continuing professional development (CPD). That might mean courses, workshops, or further certifications.

4. You’re insured and accountable.
AoR members should hold appropriate insurance and can be held accountable if standards aren’t met. This protects both you and your clients.

The AoR’s continuing support and their wealth of knowledge and resources are invaluable, as well as industry updates and business help.

Thank you AoR.🤍

To talk or not talk during a Reflexology Treatment? 🤔 What do you think? As a reflexologist I always take the lead from my clients. Everyone is different. Some people feel more comfortable chatting away through their treatment, others just want silence or to listen to some soothing music.

Personally when I go for my regular treatments to the amazing Emily Aston Reflexology, I chat a little at the beginning but then I like to be quiet and focus on the treatment.

There’s no right way or wrong way.👣👣
