That’s a wrap for another lovely term of Gentle Hatha Yoga 🧘🏻‍♀️

A huge thank you to everyone who has joined me on the mat this school year. Whether you’ve been coming for years or recently found the class, I’m so grateful you’ve chosen to spend part of your week with me.

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful summer. Take time to rest, move in ways that feel good, enjoy the lighter evenings, and most importantly, be kind to yourselves.

🌿 We’ll be back in September!

Bookings are now open for our next 6-week Gentle Hatha Yoga block, with an early bird rate available for those who book by 24th August.

If you’ve been thinking about joining, I’d love to welcome you. Classes are suitable for all levels and offer a calm, supportive, non-judgemental space where you can simply come as you are.

Today I had the pleasure of delivering 10 yoga and mindfulness sessions as part of Wellbeing Week at Ysgol Glan Morfa 🤍

From Meithrin and Derbyn right through to BL1–BL6, I spent the day sharing movement, breathing, mindfulness, and relaxation with over 250 children.

One of the things I love most about working in schools is seeing how differently each class engages with the sessions. Some children love the movement, some enjoy the breathing practices, and others really embrace the opportunity to slow down and relax.

It’s always a privilege to be invited into schools and support children’s wellbeing in a way that is fun, accessible, and inclusive for everyone.

A huge thank you to Ysgol Glan Morfa for such a warm welcome and for making wellbeing such an important part of the school experience.

A wonderful day spent sharing yoga with so many fantastic children 🌿

One thing that has remained unchanged throughout my yoga journey is that I only teach during term time.

People often ask why.

The answer is simple. I’ve always been home with my girls during the school holidays, and to me, that is true wealth.

When I first started Little Tree Yoga 8 years ago, this was one of the boundaries I put in place. Back then, the business was primarily children’s yoga and I wanted a business that worked around my family, not the other way around.

It worked.

The business grew quickly, classes flourished, and I never felt the need to sacrifice the school holidays to make it successful.

Even when I opened my yoga studio, I kept the same approach. We closed for the entire summer and reopened in September. Every year, the doors opened and everyone came back. For years I had a 99% return-to-class rate, which taught me something really important.

People don’t disappear because you take a break.

As the years passed and Little Tree Yoga evolved into Yoga with Jodie, I kept that boundary.

For many of my yogis, it works too. Lots are working parents whose routines completely change during the holidays. Others enjoy having a short break from classes before returning refreshed and ready to step back onto the mat.

Of course, the summer holidays can feel long when you’re looking ahead to them, but they always seem to fly by.

Teaching term time only isn’t a business compromise for me. It’s a conscious choice that allows me to build a business I love while being present for the people I love most.

And after all these years, I wouldn’t change it 🤍

At some point, practice stops being something that only happens on the mat.

It starts showing up in regular life.

In the conversation where your chest gets tight.

In the moment your jaw locks before you even know you’re angry.

In the pause before you say yes when your whole body is already saying no.

That’s when you realize yoga has been training more than flexibility.

It’s been training awareness.

The kind that catches the old reaction before it takes the wheel.

The kind that notices the breath getting shallow.

The kind that gives you one small second to choose something different.

Not perfectly.

Not peacefully.

Just honestly.

Because the practice is not working only when you feel calm.

Sometimes it’s working when you notice the grip.

When you hear the edge in your voice.

When you feel yourself reaching for the familiar version of you, and something interrupts it.

That interruption matters.

That breath matters.

That tiny moment before the old you walks in?

That’s yoga too.

One thing you may notice about my page is that there are no photos of people actually practising in my adult classes.

A few years ago, when most of my teaching was children’s and teen yoga, photos were much easier to take. There are natural pauses during activities, partner work, games, and mindfulness exercises where you can step back and capture a moment.

Adult classes are different.

When I’m teaching Gentle Hatha, my focus is completely on the people in the room. I’m present with the class, observing, supporting, adapting, and guiding. To be honest, taking photos is always the last thing on my mind.

Of course, photos can be wonderful for marketing. We all know that. But somewhere along the way, I realised that’s not what matters most to me anymore.

What matters is creating a calm, welcoming, non-judgemental space where people can switch off for an hour without worrying about being photographed, filmed, or ending up on social media.

And if I’m completely honest, I wouldn’t particularly enjoy having my photo taken while I’m trying to relax in a yoga class either. I know many people come to yoga to switch off, take a break from the outside world, and simply have an hour to themselves.

The right people will find you.

So if you come along to Gentle Hatha Yoga, you’ll find it’s very much a photo-free zone. The only things likely to be photographed are the room setup, the mats, or perhaps a cosy corner before everyone arrives 🤍

PS: from a marketing point of view for an adult class, a content shoot would be a great idea if you wanted photos 😉

One question I get asked quite often is, “What actually is Hatha Yoga?”

Hatha Yoga is a gentle practice that combines movement, breath, mindfulness, and relaxation.

In my classes, you’ll find a calm, welcoming space where there is no pressure to keep up or achieve a particular pose. Instead, the focus is on moving in a way that feels supportive for your body, connecting with your breath, and taking time to slow down.

Many people come to Hatha Yoga to improve mobility, balance, strength, and posture, but they stay because of how it makes them feel.

Calmer.
More grounded.
More connected to themselves.

Whether you’re completely new to yoga or returning after a break, Hatha Yoga can meet you exactly where you are 🤍

One of the biggest misconceptions about yoga is that you need to be flexible before you begin.

You don’t.

Yoga isn’t about touching your toes, bending into complicated shapes, or looking a certain way.

It’s about connecting with your body, moving mindfully, and meeting yourself exactly where you are today.

Whether you’re stiff, tired, stressed, recovering from injury, completely new to yoga, or returning after years away, there is a place for you here.

Your body doesn’t need to change before you come to yoga.

Come as you are 🤍

We spend so much of our week looking after everyone and everything else.

Work.
Family.
Appointments.
The endless to-do list.

But what if you gave yourself just one hour?

One hour to move your body.

One hour to slow your thoughts.

One hour to breathe a little deeper.

One hour where nobody needs anything from you.

That’s what Gentle Hatha Yoga is all about.

A calm, welcoming, non-judgemental space where you can step away from the busyness of life and reconnect with yourself.

You don’t need experience.
You don’t need to be flexible.
You don’t need to be “good at yoga”.

You just need to come as you are 🤍
