We have declared a Critical Incident because of exceptionally high demand on our 999 service.
Call volume has increased by 31% compared with the same Monday-to-Thursday period two weeks ago. This week the service has received approximately 400 additional emergency 999 calls each day, with yesterday 50% higher than normal.
We’re working hard to provide the best possible care for our patients, but our message to the public today – and over the coming days – is to only call 999 if it’s a genuine emergency.
The NHS 111 Wales website can help with advice on staying well in warm weather, like drinking plenty, keeping cool and checking in on vulnerable family, friends and neighbours. It also has advice on a range of health issues and what to do.
