Hello September!

A new month, a fresh start… and a gentle reminder to make time for YOU. 🧘‍♀️💜

As the seasons begin to change, yoga can help us slow down, breathe deeply and find our balance - both on and off the mat.

✨ Move your body
✨ Calm your mind
✨ Breathe deeply
✨ Take a little time for yourself

Whether you’re a regular yogi or thinking about giving yoga a try, September is a lovely time to begin.

Come and join me on the mat - your body and mind will thank you! 🧘‍♀️

🌧️ 🧘‍♀️ Rainy Bank Holiday? Perfect yoga weather! 🌈

Okay… maybe the sunshine didn’t quite get the Bank Holiday memo!

But just like yoga teaches us, we can’t control the weather - we can choose how we respond to it.

So roll out your mat, take a deep breath, stretch, move and enjoy a little time for yourself.

And remember… without the rain, we wouldn’t have rainbows! 🌈

Sometimes the wobbles, the challenges and even the rainy days are what make the beautiful moments shine a little brighter.

Happy Bank Holiday - breathe, move, smile and embrace whatever comes your way! 🌧️🌈

AUGUST BLOOD MOON • 28 AUGUST

On Friday 28 August, the Full Moon will coincide with a partial lunar eclipse, creating the beautiful reddish glow we call a Blood Moon.

🌒 UK timings:
* 2:23am — Eclipse begins
* 3:33am — Partial eclipse begins
* 5:12am — Maximum eclipse
* Around 6:15am — Moonset in London

The Moon has long been associated with release, reflection and renewal — a beautiful reminder to pause, breathe and let go of what we no longer need.

🧘🏻 Move with awareness
🧘🏻 Breathe deeply
🧘🏻 Release what no longer serves you
🧘🏻 Make space for something new

Whether you’re awake to witness it, practising a little gentle yoga, meditating, or simply looking up at the night sky, take a moment to connect with the natural rhythm around you.

Release • Restore • Renew 🌒

🌑 When the Sun Went Dark — Welsh Folklore & the Mystery of an Eclipse ☀️

Imagine standing on a Welsh hillside centuries ago when, in the middle of the day, the Sun suddenly began to disappear…

The sky darkened. Birds fell strangely quiet. The temperature dropped. Shadows changed — and for a few extraordinary moments, day became night.

Without our modern understanding of astronomy, such an event must have seemed almost magical.

Welsh folklore has long been filled with stories of the Otherworld — Annwn, a mysterious realm existing alongside our own. The landscape itself was believed to hold hidden places and unseen forces, with mountains, lakes and ancient stones woven into tales of the supernatural.

Although there isn’t a well-established ancient Welsh tradition saying that a particular creature ate the Sun during an eclipse, eclipses would have fitted naturally into a world where the heavens, the land and the supernatural were closely connected.

Across Britain and Europe, unusual celestial events were often regarded as omens or warnings and around the world, people imagined dragons, wolves and other creatures swallowing or attacking the Sun.

Perhaps the Welsh imagination would have asked a different question:

Had the Otherworld briefly touched our own? 🌑☀️

Today we know exactly what causes an eclipse — the Moon passing between Earth and the Sun.

But perhaps knowing the science doesn’t take away the magic.

It simply gives us another reason to look up. ❤️

✨ Happy Hips, Healthy Back ✨

Our hips and lower back are closely connected. When the hips become tight or weak, the lower back often works harder to compensate, which can lead to stiffness, tension and discomfort.

For the next few weeks, Monday classes explore the theme:

“Strong hips support a happy back. By improving hip mobility and building strength around the pelvis, we can reduce unnecessary strain on the lower back and make everyday movements feel easier and more comfortable.”

In this gentle yoga practice we’ll focus on:
🧘🏻 Releasing tension in the hips
🧘🏻 Improving flexibility and mobility
🧘🏻 Strengthening the glutes and core
🧘🏻 Supporting healthy posture and spinal alignment
🧘🏻 Enhancing balance and stability
🧘🏻 Reducing lower back tension
🧘🏻 Moving with greater ease and confidence

Remember, yoga isn’t about how far you stretch - it’s about creating strength, balance and freedom of movement in a way that feels right for your body.

Take time for yourself, breathe deeply and enjoy moving with kindness and awareness. Your hips - and your back - will thank you. 💚

🧘‍♂️ Looking forward to sharing this practice with you!

Summer wander around Treheli and Rhiw - views of Harlech and Cadair Idris across the bay. Enjoying the beautiful blue sky and sea and spotting the seasonal changes - heather doing its best to bloom and blackberries already in the hedgerows.

❤️ The Science Behind Yoga & Heart Health ❤️

“Every deep breath is a gentle workout for your nervous system - and a gift to your heart.” ❤️

Research suggests that regular yoga can support heart health in several important ways.

🧘🏻 Helps lower blood pressure by encouraging relaxation and reducing activity in the body’s “fight or flight” response.

🧘🏻 May improve heart rate variability (HRV) – a measure of how well your heart adapts to changing demands. Higher HRV is generally associated with better cardiovascular health and resilience.

🧘🏻 Supports healthy breathing, increasing oxygen efficiency and helping to calm the nervous system.

🧘🏻 Reduces chronic stress, which can contribute to high blood pressure, inflammation and other cardiovascular risk factors.

🧘🏻 Encourages regular movement, improving strength, flexibility and balance, making it easier to stay active throughout life.

🧘🏻 Studies have found that yoga can improve several risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including blood pressure, cholesterol levels and blood glucose, especially when combined with a healthy lifestyle.

The greatest benefits come from practising regularly - even gentle yoga and mindful breathing can make a meaningful difference.

Take a deep breath, move with awareness and give your heart the care it deserves. ❤️
