😎 Or perhaps doing what our youngest, Ollie (4), refers to as 'laxing' took us a while to realise he meant relaxing 😂

**💥 Achilles Pain That Just Won’t Shift? Here’s What Helped This Patient.**

When this patient first came to Physio Môn, he was limping and desperate for answers. He didn’t know what was causing his pain – just that walking hurt and running was out of the question.

Following a full assessment, I diagnosed **Achilles tendinopathy** – a condition often caused by overload or a sudden change in activity levels. It’s common, frustrating, and takes time to settle if left untreated.

We started with a targeted rehab plan using the **Alfredson loading protocol** – a structured eccentric exercise program designed to gradually strengthen the tendon. This is the gold standard approach for chronic Achilles pain 🌟

Symptoms initially improved but then plateaued so we added **acupuncture** to help manage pain and promote healing. (Photo shared with permission – thanks to my lovely patient!)

At his final session, he reported being **90% better**, walking pain-free, and so glad he’d taken that first step to get assessed.

I'ts been over a year since he was last in and his Achilles has been pain free since! ⭐

👉 Achilles issues? Don’t just rest and hope. Early diagnosis, tailored rehab, and sometimes a few extra tools – like acupuncture – can make all the difference.

📍 Based on Anglesey and need help? Drop me a message or book in to get started. *Acupuncture appointments only available with Esther*

Throwback Thursday.....to when Bones (our office skeleton) arrived at his new home all the way from our old Bodfford clinic.

He was strapped to the clinic bed, on the back of my brother's trailer, all around the one way system in town - having the time of his life 😂😂

I'm sure he still dreams of that memory...

Grateful to have patients today who started with us all those years ago in our first clinic who still wouldn't hesitate to go anywhere else ♥️

Are you looking after yourself?

There's only so long your body can go pushing yourself to limits, not looking after yourself, serving others and putting yourself last.

This is your little reminder to invest in yourself, whether that's booking a little bit of time out to spend doing something you love, asking for help every now and again or finally booking that appointment you've been putting off ❤️

If not now, when?

Another great group walk this evening over at Rhosneigr! I do love Môn Walker nights! We had some past and present patients walk with us, some old friends and lots of new walkers too.

As always great company, great chats and a lovely evening at Will's Bar afterwards!

This evening was a special walk too as we were fundraising for Daisy's Diolch - a collection of eight charities that all supported local teen Daisy who was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma last year and is now in remission after many rounds of chemo 💜 this evenings walk raised another £140 towards the charities that supported her and her Mum 🥰 thank you all for your generosity.

I had some lovely chats with lots of you this evening and it was a great reminder why we do what we do - as a physio I'm passionate about promoting walking as an exercise and getting people out walking together because it's so important for our physical and mental wellbeing.

I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. See you next time!

If you've ever wondered whether to use ice or heat here's your answer 👇 save it for when you need reminding or tag a friend who needs to heat this 👇👇

One of the reasons back pain can last longer is because we learn to adapt and move differently because of pain. How many times do we hear "bend with your knees!" When in fact bending forwards is a normal movement our spines are designed to do and should not be feared or avoided.

As quickly as you can, try to get back to bending normally: if you need to pick something light off the floor for example, there's no need to bend your knees. (Of course if you're picking something heavy up then use correct manual handling techniques 😊)

Regular movement and exercise is the best way of managing most episodes of back pain, and most episodes of back pain are not due to anything serious, despite the level of pain that may be present.

If you're struggling get in touch, we can help.
