PLEASE HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR OUR LOCAL MEN 💙
In the last two years alone, 33 men from Anglesey have died from prostate cancer—16 men in 2024 and 17 men in 2025. That is approximately one local man every three weeks.
These aren’t simply statistics. They are fathers, partners, brothers, sons, friends and valued members of our community.
This post may touch some people personally. You may have received a prostate cancer diagnosis yourself, or watched a relative or friend face the disease. You will understand only too well the worry and uncertainty that it can bring.
Other men may scroll past this post and think, “It won’t happen to me.” But approximately 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime and most men with early prostate cancer have no symptoms. A man can feel completely well and have no reason to believe anything is wrong. That is why awareness, understanding your individual risk and access to informed PSA testing are so important. Although a PSA blood test cannot diagnose or completely rule out prostate cancer, it can identify men who may need further investigation.
We are a team of local clinicians organising this fundraiser entirely in our own time, alongside our usual jobs and family commitments. There is absolutely no financial gain for any of us.
The money raised will help us provide free, clinically guided PSA blood tests for eligible men across Anglesey and Gwynedd. We will give our time and take the blood samples completely free of charge.
Men whose results indicate that further investigation may be needed will also be offered free counselling sessions, providing emotional support during what can be an extremely worrying and uncertain time.
This is a time when we should all be pulling together as a community. By buying a ticket, sharing our event or encouraging someone else to support us, you could help us reach a man who might otherwise remain unaware.
If our efforts help save even one man’s life, every hour of work will have been worthwhile.
