Seasonal update 🌟
It’s great to have some lovely weather, but that intense heat last week has brought its fair share of challenges! Across Europe, soaring temperatures have affected crops, and sadly some of our growers have suffered losses.
🍇Italian white grapes in stock and we received the first arrival of black seedless Italian grape last night. The first Prima black grape has been spotted in Rungis and Muscat should start soon.
🍓The Kent berry season continues with daily collections from Hugh Lowe for strawberries and blackberries, and outstanding Roughway Farm raspberries and cherries. Gooseberries are also now in stock.
🍑Stone fruit is now at its peak, with majority coming from Eyragues, Provence. We have an excellent range of yellow and white peaches, the first blood peaches, yellow and white nectarines, and apricots. We will be switching to some amazing new season French plums imminently. The first greengages have also been spotted in Rungis.
🍈Melons are looking excellent. We have superb watermelon, cantaloupe and Honeymoon melons from Lorenzini, alongside good Spanish honeydew and, of course, beautiful French Charentais.
🫛The UK runner bean season has begun, while peas and broad beans continue to eat beautifully. Yellow beans from France and the first coco beans are now arriving, while Italian borlotti beans are also looking fabulous. Courgettes are also looking particularly good, with excellent Provence green, yellow and round varieties, alongside superb Romana and Trombetta from Italy.
🍄🌿We continue to have Girolles in stock. Plenty of forages in peak season including Sea Aster and Sea Purslane.
