〰️ The wellness advice I wish I’d heard years ago...

Your body may not need more discipline. It may need safety and first to pause….

We spend so much time trying to optimise our lives. Instead of chasing perfection, try less rushing, less pressure, try less doing + let yourself return to you.

A few slow breaths, 10 minutes of gentle movement or a moment to regulate your nervous system.

Because when you feel calmer, clearer and more grounded, everything else tends to flow a little more easily. Sometimes that’s enough to change the whole day.

〰️ In my 20s, I wanted to change my body.
In my 40s, I want to take care of it

We spent years surrounded by messaging that taught women to control and perfect their bodies- and as a former model, that mindset was everywhere- and it was very deeply unhealthy for me. I now sometimes see this creeping into wellness too.

We are told to optimise and perfect everything and somewhere along the way—certainly for me—that stopped feeling like being well. I believe wellness is less about control and more about partnership.

Feeling strong enough to carry life. Mobile enough to move well. Calm enough to think clearly. Energised enough to enjoy the people and experiences I love.

Less punishment. More intelligence. More support— without adding stress.

What are your thoughts?

I’m not interested in punishment disguised as wellness.
I’m not interested in pressure, guilt, and shaming in the name of wellness….

I’m interested in movement and wellbeing tools that help people feel stronger, more energised, more regulated and more connected to themselves.

Sustainable wellness was never supposed to become another form of self-criticism. I believe wellness should work with your body to support you and your wellbeing.. not against it.

〰️ When everything feels hot and overstimulating, the body often craves the opposite ☀️

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer is associated with the fire element- energy, heat, movement, expansion. Beautiful in many ways, but too much fire can also leave us feeling overstimulated, restless or depleted.

Therefore we bring in Yin- inviting the balancing energy of water 💧

Cooling practices like yin can help regulate the nervous system, soften muscular tension and reduce internal intensity. Through longer holds, softer breath and less effort, we shift out of doing and into being. Actually being a cooling practice.

Sometimes balance is found in slowing down- especially on these heat wave days.

Try each pose on both sides for at least 3 minutes.

…. It’s just become so apparent to me that many women in their 40s, including me, and especially those carrying a lot- work, children, stress, hormonal shifts, emotional load- that adding more stress through workouts isn’t always the answer.

That doesn’t mean giving up on strength. It just means training more intelligently + building strength, muscle, tone and resilience in a way that supports your body rather than depletes it.

〰️ Take notice of what light does ☀️

Summer opens us. It draws us outward, into warmth, movement, connection and aliveness.

Today, the Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year, and also my favourite day of the year. Carrying the energy of fire: growth, vitality, abundance and transformation.

Everything in nature is expanding toward the light.

Pause. Breathe. Realign. Then ask yourself, what would letting more light in look like for me…
