✨ SHE'S ONLY GONE AND GOT HERSELF A MASTERS!!!

I’m incredibly proud to have graduated with a Distinction in MSc Physiotherapy.

I may have taken the long route but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm so proud of all the hard work I've put it in to get to this stage and I'm excited for the next chapter. I look forward to continuing to help clients recover from injury, reduce pain and achieve their movement goals.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. 💙.

🎥 I’m still getting used to speaking on camera, so please bear with me! 😅

Did you know that tight jaw muscles (especially your masseter muscle) can contribute to headaches?

If you find yourself clenching your jaw, grinding your teeth, or waking up with tension around your jaw and temples, your muscles could be playing a part in your symptoms.

Sports massage isn’t just for athletes—it can also help reduce muscle tension, improve mobility, and relieve tightness in areas like the jaw, neck, and shoulders that may be contributing to headaches.

Every person is different, so it’s always important to get assessed to identify what’s driving your symptoms and the best way to manage them.

Thanks for sticking with me while I get more comfortable in front of the camera! 💙

Pelvic Health physio 🌸

Another insightful learning opportunity this week, attending a presentation by Tiffany Gynaegirl - Pelvic Health Physiotherapist on the importance of pelvic health physiotherapy.

The session highlighted the wide-reaching impact of pelvic floor dysfunction, including how a hypertonic pelvic floor can contribute to lower back pain through its connection to the coccyx and surrounding structures. We also explored the importance of pelvic floor training for both endurance and fast-twitch muscle function, the use of biofeedback, and current approaches to managing pelvic organ prolapse.

What stood out most was how relevant pelvic health is across multiple areas of physiotherapy. While often associated with women’s health, pelvic floor function can influence outcomes in MSK, neurological, and respiratory rehabilitation, reinforcing the need for a holistic approach to assessment and treatment.

A great reminder that pelvic health is an important part of whole-person care and something all physiotherapists should have an awareness of.

I’ve officially completed the final assignment of my MSc Physiotherapy programme – a poster presentation exploring the role of prehabilitation for women undergoing mastectomy surgery.

Working on this project gave me the opportunity to explore an area where physiotherapy can have a real impact, both physically and psychologically, before surgery even takes place. Prehabilitation has the potential to support recovery, improve outcomes, and help patients feel more prepared for treatment, yet it is still not routinely embedded within breast cancer care pathways.

This topic was particularly meaningful to me given my experience working in oncology rehabilitation and seeing first-hand the difference that early intervention can make.

One of the key takeaways from the project is that while the evidence is promising, more breast cancer-specific research and the development of national guidelines are needed before prehabilitation can become standard practice across services.

I’m usually very nervous when it comes to presentations, but because this is a topic I feel so strongly about, I genuinely enjoyed the opportunity to present and discuss it. It was a great way to finish the MSc journey and reflect on an area of physiotherapy that I hope continues to grow in the future.
