Join us for a community screening of the cinematic blockbuster Interstellar!

"We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars. Now we just look down, and worry about our place in the dirt."

2014's sci-fi epic Interstellar combines theoretical physics with practical filmmaking. Christopher Nolan famously planted 500 acres of real corn and collaborated with Nobel laureate Kip Thorne to create scientifically accurate visual simulations of black holes.

Set in a dystopian future where Earth is dying from crop blight and dust storms, Interstellar follows ex-NASA pilot Joseph Cooper, who leaves his children to pilot a spaceship through a wormhole near Saturn. His goal is to find a new habitable planet and save humanity before it goes extinct.

The event will be held at The Wanstead Curtain attached to Methodist Church Hall in Hermon Hill, Wanstead.

As part of Awareness Week to promote conversations around death, dying & bereavement, we are hosting the cult movie Harold & Maude at The Wanstead Curtain E11 2AR.

The plot follows a young man who is obsessed with death, and who rejects the life his detached mother prescribes for him. Harold develops a friendship, and eventual romantic relationship, with the 79-year-old Maude who teaches Harold about the importance of living life to its fullest.

As part of Awareness Week join us on a tour of the prestigious City of London Cemetery, followed by a tour of Compassionate Funerals.

The tour will start at Compassionate Funerals, where you will take our minibus to the cemetery, visiting the Church, Catacombs and Crematorium, followed by a tour of our funeral home, lunch and an informal Q&A.

The tour will give you an insight into the mechanics of funerals, deepen your understanding of the choices available and the opportunity to have all your questions answered.

10.30am - Meet at Compassionate Funerals - minibus to The City of London Cemetery

11.00am-12.30pm - City of London Cemetery tour

1.00pm-1.30pm - Tour of Compassionate Funerals, light lunch and informal Q&A

Today we took a friendly and enthusiastic group of celebrants for a 'peek behind the curtain' at The City of London Cemetery & Crematorium. We visited the old church, the crematorium, and the catacombs.

Huge thank you to Spencer and Nick for taking the time to show us round and bust some common myths around funerals.
