Laddoo's For Life! (But make them !) 😋 Happy Diwali to you! 🪔
(And Happy World Diabetes Day too!🎉)

🎉 Celebrating the beauty of different cultures doesn't have to involve over-indulgence in sugary and other (usually incredibly unhealthy) treats. You can try adding sugar substitutes like Xylitol or Stevia (both are plant-based sweeteners). These are brilliant as a replacement for sugar when in desserts and baking recipes (without having the result of wrecking your blood sugar levels or getting that 'sugar-crash' we all know so well after eating something sweet)! (I've used Xylitol in these little bad boys here)!

🗣 Today is also World Diabetes Day!!

Around 90% of people in the UK with diabetes have Type 2 diabetes. 😳

🗣 Type 2 diabetes is 2 to 4 times more likely to occur in people of South Asian, Black African and Black Caribbean descent and, it's also known that diabetes was found in nearly one third of people who died with COVID-19.

It’s so important to note it’s more prevalent at a younger age in South Asian and Black communities.

🗣 Simple changes to your eating habits and exercising regularly can go a long way in helping you reduce your risk of Type 2 diabetes.

👀 Take a peek at the handy new ‘Know Your Risk’ tool by searching for it on any web browser and you'll be directed to the risk tool. (It's really quick and simple to use, and in only a few minutes you’ll be able to find out your risk!)

If you’re at moderate or high risk, you’ll be invited to sign up to your free local NHS 'Healthier You Diabetes Prevention Programme’ which can support you in your lifestyle goals.

🤸🏻‍♀️ So get cracking and take action to start your journey to a HEALTHIER YOU – by searching ‘Know Your Risk’ in Google!

💃🏻 Heres's 2 New Announcements (after the jump)! But first, a little bit about healthy takeaways! 😉:

It's take-out for lunch today! But it's no ordinary takeaway: fresh and healthy vegan Tofu Bao Buns from my local Bao Bun kiosk are a total addiction! (Anything with lime and herbs - is a total party in my mouth!). Packed with zingy, vitamin C-rich lime, magnesium-rich cilantro herb (diets high in potassium can help improve blood pressure control), and fresh salad with crispy plant-based -packed Tofu, in a light-as-air soft and fluffy steamed bun; it goes to show that not all takeaways are greasy and unhealthy. (It's also super-important to help local businesses thrive during this second lockdown! I'm helping out and getting mine at !). Let me know what tips you have for helping your local eateries and small businesses during lockdown!
