🚨 ADHD services in crisis 🚨
ADHD services for adults in England are closing waiting lists as they struggle to cope with demand. Here’s what the BBC found:
• 15 local areas have stopped taking new patients
• 31 others have tightened criteria, making support harder to access
• Some areas, like Cheshire, haven’t accepted new adult patients since 2019
• In Coventry & Warwickshire, adults over 25 can’t get assessments (A move now facing legal action)
• Average NHS wait times for adults already stretch to 8 years
Prof Anita Thapar, chair of NHS England’s ADHD task force, called the findings “disturbing” and warned of “enormous risks” for patients.
