In this video, Steve shares his experience immediately after treatment for Essential Tremor.

Before treatment, tremor affected both arms. After MR Guided Focused Ultrasound to his right side, he is able to lift his hand steadily and take a drink without tremor.

He describes feeling “over the moon”.

MR Guided Focused Ultrasound is an incisionless treatment delivered using real-time MRI guidance.

Clinical outcomes are often measured using validated rating scales, published data and long-term follow-up. Sometimes, however, a simple drawing can provide an immediate visual representation of functional improvement.

These spirals were drawn by the same patient immediately before and after treatment with MR Guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) for tremor.

The spiral test is widely used during neurological assessment to help clinicians evaluate tremor severity and monitor response to treatment.

While it represents only one aspect of a patient’s overall clinical picture, it provides a clear illustration of changes in motor control.

At Queen Square Imaging Centre, MR Guided Focused Ultrasound is delivered in collaboration with the functional neurosurgery team at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Throughout treatment, patients remain awake, allowing the clinical team to assess tremor reduction in real time and tailor treatment accordingly.
