I was honestly too old before I realised how little I actually knew about my own body.

And the more I learn, the more I realise I wasn’t the only one.

It’s funny how, as women, s*xual health is still such a taboo topic. Things that affect our bodies, our pleasure, our fertility and our relationships are still so often under researched, under discussed and whispered about.

So I want to start talking about the things we should have been taught much earlier.

Because sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know.

So tell me, which one took you ages to find out?

And please don’t say “all of them”.😆😆 I want the real answer.

5 things that cause painful s*x, and what to do after.

Pain during s*x is not “part of being a strong woman”, abeg. It is your body sending you a signal, and it is not something you have to just endure. If you like to share your experience with me… just a dm away

Nobody reminds women to get screened either.

We remember our children’s vaccines.
We remember their school appointments.
We remember everyone else’s health.

And sometimes, we forget our own.

So here is your reminder.

Your s*xual health deserves attention too. Save this post. Send it to a woman you love. And if there’s one thing you’ve been putting off, book it. *xualhealth Fausiat Bakare bizalert_comment

Read this if you are in the UK chasing sponsorship.

Your chest tightens every time you countdown to another deadline. Here are 5 ways to keep sane while you wait, Nigerian immigrant edition.

1. Set email checking times. Constant refreshing keeps your body in alert mode. Pick two windows a day, not every five minutes.

2. Talk about something other than visas. Call someone just to gist, not to strategise routes and thresholds.

3. Protect your sleep. Late night forum scrolling feels productive, it is not. Your mind needs rest to cope with uncertainty.

4. Keep one routine untouched by the process. Church, gym, cooking, anything that reminds you who you are outside this journey.

5. Say it out loud when it is heavy. To a friend, a therapist, an elder. Silence makes the weight worse, not lighter.

You can want this badly and still guard your peace while you wait.

One of the most beautiful things we can give our children is the confidence to talk to us about their bodies.

And I loved seeing share this beautiful conversation with her daughter.

She reminded us that s*x education is not just about the act itself. It is also about understanding our bodies, learning what they do, how they change and knowing that we can ask questions about them without shame.

Baby is lucky to have a mum who is having these conversations with her so openly.

And honestly, watching this reminded me that I need to remember to have more of these conversations with my own 8 year old too.

These conversations do not have to start when our children become s*xually active. They should start much earlier, with age appropriate conversations about their bodies.

That is how we raise children who are informed, confident and comfortable coming to us when something doesn’t feel right. *xualhealth bizofficialng
