ISHA – The Hip Preservation Society is an international organisation which is focused on hip preservation surgery to enhance patient care and outcomes, through the delivery of training, education, support of research, sharing of knowledge and best practice, fostering global collaboration and provision of patient and professional information to improve hip care. Our mission is to create “healthy hips” by bringing hip preservation, prevention and treatment to all people regardless of age, social status, gender or economic situation. Our vision is a world with equitable access to quality treatment and the best achievable patient outcomes through improved access to appropriate treatment, early intervention, prevention and education, with the goal of us living in a world where hip joint replacement is only an occurrence of old age. ISHA’s purpose is to advance, enhance, and raise awareness of the field of hip preservation, to facilitate early intervention to improve patient outcomes.

💙 TESTIMONIAL | THE IMPACT OF OUR REGIONAL TRAVEL BURSARY

We’re incredibly proud to share this testimonial highlighting the impact of the ISHA Regional Travel Bursary.

For young surgeons dedicated to hip preservation, opportunities to learn, connect and develop their skills can be truly transformative.

Through the Regional Travel Bursary, Dr Fabio Stucchi Devito Filho was able to undertake a fellowship in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, gaining valuable hands-on experience in hip arthroscopy under the mentorship of Dr Leandro Calil.

The fellowship provided a unique opportunity to further develop arthroscopic skills, learn from experienced colleagues and take that knowledge forward in their ongoing career in hip preservation.

We’re so proud to support the next generation of hip preservation specialists and to help make opportunities like this possible. 🌎

Thank you for sharing your experience with us - and for allowing us to be part of your journey.

🎓 ISHA ANNUAL MEETING INTERNATIONAL BURSARY FUND

Earlier this year, ISHA was delighted to launch the Annual Meeting International Bursary Fund, created to help facilitate participation in the ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting for members who may face financial barriers to attending.

We’re pleased to share that all five bursary awards have now been allocated. Each recipient has received a USD 1,000 bursary to support travel and accommodation costs, alongside complimentary registration to the Annual Scientific Meeting and a Pre-Conference Programme of their choice.

We look forward to welcoming our five bursary awardees to ISHA 2026 in Bruges and hope the meeting provides a valuable opportunity to learn, connect with colleagues and make the most of everything the programme has to offer.

We’re proud to support greater access and participation within the international hip preservation community. 🌍

🎥 IN THE THEATRE | RIGHT-SIDED HIP ARTHROSCOPY

In this Reel, we take a look at the theatre layout for a right-sided hip arthroscopy and the approach used in Oswestry, UK, under ISHA Member Rajpal Nandra.

At Oswestry, the team uses post-less distraction for hip arthroscopy, with experience suggesting a number of potential benefits, including:

▪️ Fewer traction-related complications
▪️ Increased theatre efficiency
▪️ The ability to progress to more complex procedures, including minced cartilage grafting

A fascinating insight into how surgical set-up and technique can influence both workflow and the range of procedures that can be performed.
