A quick recap of the last few weeks.

The goal is to put you back in control of your body.

The more you understand what your body is doing and why, the more options you have.

Instead of always needing someone else to give you the answer, you begin to have strategies you can use for yourself - and the ability to recognize when you might need something more.

Understanding your body gives you more options and puts choice back into your hands.

How do we know if what we’re doing is actually working?

We test.

Having something measurable gives us feedback - not weeks or months later, but in the moment.

When the body responds, we have information. When it doesn’t, we have information too.

The aim isn’t to assume something should work. It’s too create change. We can see, feel and measure.

Immediate means immediate.

The chair stayed exactly the same.

What changed was the person lifting it.

By shifting mindset and point of focus, the same task could suddenly feel heavier, harder and require more effort or become easier again.

It’s a simple demonstration of something much bigger: our mental state isn’t separate from our physical state.

The external load didn’t change.

The physiology did.

We often talk about the mind and body as though they’re two separate things.

But what happens in one is reflected in the.

A shift in our physical state can influence how we think, feel and experience the world around us. And what we focus on, think about and tell ourselves influence our physiology in return.

What’s in the mind is in the body.
What’s in the body is in the mind.

That’s one of the ideas we continue to explore through the Be Activated.

One of the things that has shaped Be Activated from the beginning is a willingness to keep asking questions.

On one of Douglas’s first courses, he was asked something he didn’t know the answer to.

His response was simple: “I have no idea, but that’s a very good question.”

So he went away and looked.

That question ended up revealing a missing link in something he was already working on - and became part of how the work continued to develop.

There’s a lot of value in being able to say I don’t know without needing to defend what we already believe.

Because the question we can’t answer might be the one that gives us somewhere new to look.

The body is always finding a way.

The body will find ways to keep us functioning, moving and getting through life - and those strategies can show up in places we might not immediately expect.

Here, the testing begins to reveal how much work the jaw is doing as part of the bigger strategy.

Rather than simply labeling, that is wrong, the interesting part is understanding why the body has chosen it, what it’s helping with, and whether it still needs to rely on it.

Assessment starts before the testing does.

The way someone naturally positions themselves, where they hold tension, what feels comfortable and what doesn’t - all of it can give us information.

Then there’s the story the person brings with them: what they’re feeling, what they’ve experienced and what they want help with.

The question is whether we can connect the symptoms they’ve come in with to the story their body is telling us.

A compensatory pattern isn’t necessarily something the body is doing wrong.

It may be the strategy the body is found to keep you functioning – to survive, move, breathe and respond to the world around you.

As things change, the aim isn’t always to force that pattern away.

Sometimes the body simply needs to rely on it less and less, until eventually, it no longer needs it in the same way.

When the same injury keeps happening, the question has to change.

It’s not only about what happened this time. It’s about understanding what the body keeps doing when it’s placed under pressure.
