A reminder that we can’t always control what happens, but we CAN control how we choose to respond…

My suitcase got lost for the first few days of our holiday. Frustrating? Absolutely!!

But I made a choice not to let it ruin my mood or stop me from enjoying the holiday.

I borrowed clothes, improvised, ate delicious food and spent time with people I love.

And it made me realise that the things that matter most aren’t in a suitcase anyway.

Sometimes you just have to let go of the things you can’t change in the moment, and get on with enjoying what’s right in front of you!

And, having a 9-year-old niece my height, with much cooler clothes than me definitely helped too! ;) Thank you Sarah! 🩷

Feeling very grateful ❤️ (and my case got found!)

Actually spotted this today! ✨

Funny how the best reminders are sometimes found lying in the middle of the street.

In the rush of emails, errands, to-do lists and everything else life throws at us, it’s easy to forget…

Enjoy life. It’s delicious.

Pause.
Breathe.
Nourish your body.
Savour the little things.

Because your life is so much more than a to-do list.

May highlights 🍰🌸🦶🏽💚

I can’t believe we’re in June!

It feels like yesterday I was sharing photos from my 40th birthday (March!), and suddenly April and May went by in a flash. Right??

For me, most of May was spent at home recovering from foot surgery.

While that’s not exactly anyone’s dream plan for six weeks, it gave me a renewed appreciation for something we often take for granted - our health.

As a doctor, I’ve always been fascinated by the human body and its ability to heal.

But watching my foot transform from something that looked truly Frankenstein-like 🧟‍♀️ (swollen, bruised, flaps of skin stitched together the whole way down!) back into a healthy, functioning foot with just a scar has left me genuinely in awe.

The body’s ability to heal is nothing short of miraculous.

I’m so grateful to the friends and family who supported me and us, checked in on me, and kept life running smoothly while I was off my feet (or at least TRYING to be!) ;)

The whole experience has also made me feel even more passionate about what I do for work…

Good nutrition gives our bodies the building blocks they need to repair, recover, adapt and heal.

Every day, I’m reminded what a gift that is — whether recovering from surgery or simply navigating everyday life.

So here are a few snapshots from May - food enjoyed, moments shared, time with people I love, healing, laughter and life.

A reminder that good food nourishes the body, good people nourish the heart. Both matter more than we realise. 🙏🏽💚✨

WORTH IT INDULGENCE 🍰

Not a fat-free, sugar-free, dairy-free cheesecake. I enjoy the REAL deal (and recommend you do too) — here’s why…

I don’t regularly eat or crave ultra-processed sugary foods — not because they’re “forbidden” or “not allowed”, but because when you eat in a wholesome, nourishing, satisfying and balanced way, you naturally stop wanting or NEEDING them.

That’s exactly what I see with my clients too.

The foods I eat daily — nuts, tahini, avocado, hummus, olive oil — are actually far more calorific than cake or sweets. So this has never been about fear of calories or weight gain.

It’s about how food makes you feel.

And when something truly feels worth it… I enjoy it fully! No guilt. No “cheat day”. No restricting the next day to compensate.

Just a beautiful slice of cheesecake (my favourite!), enjoying every mouthful, eating as much as I want, before returning to my usual way of eating.

That’s the sweet spot I teach my clients with The Food Effect Method™:

✨ Nourishment without obsession
✨ Pleasure without guilt
✨ Consistency without restriction

Because healthy eating should SUPPORT your life — not consume your mind.

So enjoy the cheesecake (or whatever your worthwhile indulgence is)…

Eat it. Savour it. Enjoy it. Move on. Live your life 🫶🏽

Turning 40! 💃🏻

Amazing friends and family. Delicious food. Great music. A room full of love — truly nothing more I could want (apart from peace in the world) 🙏🏽🧿💖🤎🪬

Celebrating this milestone surrounded by incredible friends — some since primary school, some since arriving in London at 11, others who’ve come into my life more recently… all equally special to me ❤️

And still dancing like it’s 1999 🪩💫

A night that filled my heart and soul to the brim.

Thank you to my friends and family for making it so unforgettable.

May we always stay this young at heart!

And a huge thank you to those who brought it all to life:

(my incredible Mum!)

So grateful to you all 🙏🏽

What’s A Birthday Without Some Cake? 🎂

Last week I celebrated my 40th birthday and yes… there was cake.

A beautiful Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese icing — my absolute favourite.

And yes… I had a slice (or two).

Not because it was a “cheat day”.

Not because I’d “been good all week”.

And certainly not with a plan to restrict, count calories, or punish myself in the gym afterwards. 🙄

Because it was my birthday… a moment worth celebrating!

This is exactly what The Food Effect philosophy is all about.

Building a healthy lifestyle that keeps you slim, energised and feeling your best — while still enjoying life’s special moments, cake included!

No guilt.

No panic.

No “starting again Monday.”

Because the goal is never perfection.

And when you let go of that, something incredible happens — you let go of the weight that comes with it too.

And yes… the cake was delicious!
