Supporting Children with Special Educational Needs - Why Nutrition Matters

New systems for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in the UK would do well to recognise the fundamental importance of nutrition to healthy brain development, experts say.

Join leading nutritional neuroscientists Dr. Rachel V. Gow and Dr Alex Richardson for our next FAB webinar, to learn more about:

> Why food insecurity, ultra-processed diets and nutritionally impoverished school meals can all add to challenges with attention, mood, behaviour and learning for any child

> How dietary assessment and tailored support can significantly improve outcomes, particularly for many children with ADHD, autism, dyslexia or related conditions

Don’t miss this chance to hear the latest evidence, get your own questions answered - and gain practical, evidence-based tools and resources that parents, teachers and other professionals can use to help children with SEND to achieve their full potential.

📣 Speaker Announcement – NeuroBloom 2026

Nutritious Minds Trust Charity 🍓 is delighted to welcome Dr Kevin Patrick Rigley as a guest speaker at NeuroBloom 2026, our one-day conference in honour of ADHD Awareness Month.

🔬Dr Rigley is an immunologist, cognitive theorist and early childhood education reformer. His early academic career in cellular immunology led to more than 20 peer-reviewed publications in journals.

🎓Following the sudden death of his first wife, Kevin left academia to raise his children — an experience that profoundly reshaped his thinking on cognition, resilience, childhood and the biology of becoming.

📚Later, through his work with Willows Preschools, Kevin began observing developmental patterns he felt were often overlooked by mainstream science and education. This led to the creation of Inflamed Minds and his wider work on neurodiversity, cognition and early childhood development.

👨🏻‍💻Kevin is the developer of the Thought Generator–Thought Selector model, the SIPS framework and the Willowsway curriculum, which reframes childhood not simply as preparation for life, but as life itself — a vital window where thought, freedom, identity and resilience begin to form.

🫶🏼 We are honoured to welcome Dr Rigley to NeuroBloom 2026 as part of a powerful day exploring science, lived experience, education, creativity, emotional regulation and brain health.

📣 Listen back to our Instagram LIVE with parenting expert Noël Janis-Norton, founder of Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting and Teaching.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Noël joined me to discuss practical tools for supporting children with ADHD, extreme temperament, emotional intensity, cooperation, self-reliance, self-esteem, screen dependency, sleep, nutrition, and calmer family life.

🤦🏻‍♀️This is such a helpful conversation for parents who feel exhausted by repeating, reminding, negotiating, nagging or shouting — and who want practical, compassionate strategies that actually support both the child and the parent.

💬 Noël shares simple tools including Descriptive Praise, Special Time, Reflective Listening and ways parents can begin to feel back in charge without constant conflict.

💿The links between music, neurodivergence and creativity are increasingly being discussed and this is a specific connection I’ve felt and recognised since the 1990s.

🪩In my mid-20s, I spent several years, promoting and hosting Saturday night parties in Berkeley Square, Mayfair. The night was called O.T.T (Over The Top) Promotions and included 2 floors of House & Garage, RnB, Soul and Funk, with long queues outside the door, everyone waiting to get in, to enjoy the music, to dance…these are undoubtedly some of my favourite memories of the younger me.

💃🏽For many neurodivergent people, music is freedom, it’s emotional regulation, combined with the release of powerful feel-good chemicals, working in synergy to feel great, the perfect environment to forge bonds, and meaningful human connections.

🫀Ive often spoken about why a bass line is deeply penetrating. And arguably primal. Think about it like this. The first sound a baby hears is the beat of his/her mother’s heart. This rhythmic sound signals safety, its grounding, and wraps a blanket around the nervous system.

🎤My initial insights between the links between music, neurodivergence and creativity came from stories from my dear friend, the late, great Stevie Hyper D. He would often talk about having dyslexia. His struggle educationally and his lisp which was unrecognisable when he lit up stages with his lyrical mastery.

👩🏻‍💻If you are interested in this subject, I have provided links to some of my own music and neurodivergent insights:

🙌🏼 Such an incredible day at the Brighton Music Conference 2026 and an absolute privilege to join such an important conversation on ADHD, neurodivergence, music, creativity and the realities of working in the music industry.
