On Saturday, seven mums gathered together in London for the very first time.

Through the Tree of Life activity, each mum shared their story and we reflected on their shared sense of resilience.

One mum travelled to London alone with her little one for the first time and discovered she could handle more than she thought. Another showed up despite the protests disrupting her entire journey.

This is what Mamas Circle is for.

Six weeks of planning, a few sleepless nights and one very eventful Saturday later, Sawubona's first in-person gathering happened. And I already can't wait for the next one!

If you've been thinking about joining us online or in person, we'd love to have you in the room.

This Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, we're holding space for every mother who has struggled in silence. The numbers are stark and the need for connection is real. Community matters more than ever.

I know how easy it is to read something like this and think “that sounds lovely, but I’ll do it another time.”

And then another time never quite shows up.

So I just wanted to gently bring this back to you…

🌿 Spring Vision Board Workshop — Sunday 17th May 2026, 2-4pm at Costock Road Pavilion & Sports Ground, East Leake 🌿

A really intentional, nourishing day to slow down, get out of the noise, and actually hear yourself again.

Not in a “write some goals on a pretty board” kind of way, but in a who am I now, what do I actually want next, and what feels aligned for me kind of way.

It’s creative, grounding, a bit emotional in the best way, and honestly, it’s often the first time in a long time that women give themselves space to think about themselves without guilt attached.

And I’ll be real with you, there aren’t many spaces left now.

I’d hate for you to feel like you missed it and then see everyone else talking about how good it felt afterwards.

Motherhood can be full of moments that ask more of you than you expected; emotionally, mentally, and relationally.

Growth in motherhood is not always noticeable in big, visible ways.

A lot of growth happens quietly, without acknowledgement.

Have you noticed yourself being stretched in motherhood lately?

If you’ve ever wondered what actually happens inside Mamas Circle, here's a little glimpse into the space.

Mamas Circle isn’t a workshop.
And it isn’t group therapy.

It’s a small group of mothers gathering for real, honest conversations about the emotional journey of motherhood.

Sometimes people speak. Sometimes people mostly listen, and that's perfectly okay.

There’s no pressure to share anything big or profound.
Often it’s the small everyday moments that open the conversation.

A bedtime that took longer than expected.
A moment of mum guilt that lingered.
Quiet attempts to parent differently from how we were raised.

Over time something simple yet poignant unfolds.
People realise that they’re not alone in their thoughts and feelings.

And that realisation can bring a sense of relief.
The feeling of being truly seen and understood is incredibly powerful.

I often get asked what inspired me to hold mamas circles, especially as someone who is not yet a mum.

The answer is simple: motherhood never happens in isolation, even when it seems that way.

I was shaped by a culture where identity was shared and belonging was collective. I have also experienced living between worlds, holding multiple identities at once, and navigating the quiet loneliness that can come with that.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I witness every day how much of our wellbeing depends on connection, on feeling truly seen and knowing that you don’t have to carry everything alone. And as someone shaped by community, I believe none of us were ever meant to parent in silos.

This space exists because community still matters. Because you matter to others, and others matter to you.

For many mums raising children between cultures, systems, or identities, the labour is invisible but constant. You’re always interpreting what matters, what’s expected, what can be kept, and what needs to change.

That ongoing translation can be enriching and grounding.
And it can also be lonely.

There are very few places where this experience is spoken about without needing to explain or justify it.

Mamas Circle was created as one of those rare places, a gentle, contained space where this kind of complexity doesn’t need to be simplified or fixed.

“We are all more alike than different.”

This beautiful thought was shared by a mum in one of our circles, not as a slogan, but as a quiet, heartfelt realisation.

We come with different stories, different bodies, different cultures.
And yet, beneath these differences, so many feelings are shared:
the mental load,
the love,
the worry,
the becoming.

When mums are given a safe space to speak honestly,
what emerges isn’t comparison, it’s genuine connection.

If this resonates with you, please know you’re not imagining it.
You’re touching something deeply human and profoundly shared 🤍

We’d love to hear your story or simply hold space for you here. Comment below or join one of our circles to connect with others who understand.

Many mums tell me they feel deeply exhausted, yet can’t quite put their finger on the reason why.

So the story quietly becomes, “Maybe I’m just not very good at coping”

But what if the real issue isn’t you?
What if the invisible work you carry is the true cause of this exhaustion?

A huge amount of the work mothers do is invisible:
The constant thinking ahead.
The emotional support offered to everyone else.
The anticipating and organising that keeps family life running smoothly.

When this labour isn’t named or recognised,
its cost often gets internalised as self-criticism or shame.

This post is an invitation to pause, breathe, and reframe your story.
You’re not failing at motherhood.
You may simply be carrying far more than anyone realises. And that’s okay.

We’ll be holding space for this exact conversation in the next Mama’s Circle on 29th January, where our focus is on the invisible load of motherhood, cultural labour, and emotional responsibility.
