Your bloods are 'normal' - but you still don't feel like yourself?

Standard tests are brilliant at picking up disease, but they don't always show whether your body is working as well as it could be.

Blood sugar swings, gut health, active B12, iron stores, red cell magnesium, homocysteine, your thyroid and even your genetics can all play a huge role in your mood, focus, energy and sleep.

If you would like help finding the root cause of your anxiety, low mood or brain fog, please book a free 30-minute consultation here - https://l.bttr.to/ogOam

Client case study: Male, 46

He came to me with anxiety, low mood, poor sleep and energy, and IBD. This is a combination of symptoms that's easy to put down to "just stress" or "just getting older," but often means something deeper is going on.

What we found:
✓ Severe gut inflammation (Ulcerative Colitis) through a stool test
✓ Long term PPI use had reduced his stomach acid
✓ Insufficient nutrient absorption

Our approach:
✓ Gut-lining support supplements
✓ A step-by-step PPI de-prescribing plan, in collaboration with his GP
✓ Anti-inflammatory diet
✓ Cortisol regulation through hydration and correct daily light exposure

He felt real changes:
"Natasha has sorted my long-term gut health issues after years of issues almost daily! I feel so much better physically and mentally. I can't recommend her highly enough!"

Nutritionist, Nutritional Therapist, or Dietitian - who does what, and who should you go to for help?

It's a really common question I get asked, and it is confusing. The titles sound similar, the training is different, and it's not always obvious who's qualified for what, or which one is right for you.

Here is a breakdown to help below. This covers regulation, scope of practice, and what each professional is actually trained to do.

As a registered nutritional therapist, I'm really passionate about this because nutritional therapy so often gets reduced to "just dietary advice." And while diet is a huge part of what we do, it's really only one piece of a much bigger picture. We look at the whole person, your history, your symptoms, your lifestyle, your test results, to investigate what's actually driving how you feel, and we work alongside you to get to the root of it.

If this has helped you, or you know someone who's been confused about where to turn, feel free to share it on.

Client case study: Female, 30

She came to me with low energy, energy slumps, low mood, poor concentration, and frequent UTIs. This is a combination of symptoms that's easy to dismiss as "just being busy" or "just stress," but often means something deeper is going on.

What we found:
- Candida overgrowth
- Impaired bile flow
- Blood glucose dysregulation

What we did:
- Anti-fungal protocol/candida cleanse through supplements and diet
- Supplements to support adequate bile flow and digestion
- Mindful eating - 'how and when'

She soon noticed changes:

"I was so surprised by how quickly I started noticing improvements. Within the first week, my sleep was better and I had better energy and mood!"

This is why it's important to take a root-cause approach, looking at the body as a whole system. Low mood, poor focus, and recurring UTIs can all trace back to the same underlying imbalances, and once you start to address them, everything can shift too.

ADHD is much more than just behaviour.

When we look at the outward signs of ADHD, such as distraction, impulsivity, emotional dysregulation, we completely miss what is actually happening inside the brain.

One of the biggest players is dopamine, and nutrition has a direct impact on not only whether your brain can make, but also whether it can use and recycle it properly.

In this blog article I explore:
→ Why dopamine matters so much in ADHD
→ The key nutrients most commonly lacking (magnesium, zinc, omega-3s, B vitamins and more)
→ How gut health, genetics and blood sugar regulation all play a role
→ Why a functional medicine approach looks at the whole picture and not just symptoms

When ADHD is discussed, the spotlight usually falls on behaviour, attention span, impulsivity and emotional regulation. But if we only look at outward signs, we risk overlooking what is happening inside the brain. One of the key players in ADHD is dopamine, a chemical messenger that drives motivation...

Your brain does not function on its own. Hormones, gut health, blood sugar regulation, nutrient status, environmental stressors and your genes all interact to shape how you feel, behave and function.

Last week I attended the Regenerative Food Systems Investment Europe forum in Brussels.

And one message clearly stood out to me : diet is one of the leading drivers of chronic disease, yet we still spend the vast majority of our resources treating illness rather than preventing it.

A key theme throughout was the connection between:

farm → food → health → healthcare costs

If we want to reduce the burden of chronic disease, we cannot focus on healthcare alone.

We need to look further upstream not only at what we eat, but also at the quality of the food we produce, how it is grown, the health of our soil, its nutrient density and how accessible real food is.

It was great to see investors, policymakers, farmers and health professionals starting these conversations.

The future of our health may begin much earlier than we think - in farming practices and the health of our soil, long before food reaches our plates..

Feeling lucky to have been able to attend the Integrative & Personalised Medicine Congress (IPM) in June this year, as a qualified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner.

Friday’s mental health day had incredibly inspiring talks from , , , , , all discussing root-cause approaches to mental wellbeing.

We learned how our genes influence nutrient metabolism, neurotransmitter balance and even how we respond to certain medications. There was a strong focus on how our environment impacts mental health and how personalised nutrition and lifestyle interventions can support anxiety, depression, ADHD and other mental health challenges.

The message was clear… support the person, not the diagnosis! 🙌🏼
