Can mental health support delivered online still feel personal?

For many individuals and families attending appointments from home or safe space feels more comfortable and easier to fit around everyday life, without compromising on the quality of care.

Wondering what an online assessment actually looks like? We've put together a guide 👇

For some adults, the answer comes years later.

ADHD and autism don't always get recognised in childhood.

That doesn't mean the signs weren't there. It may simply mean they looked different, were misunderstood or were masked by years of adapting and coping.

For many people, a later diagnosis can bring a new understanding of experiences they've carried for years.

As the school year comes to an end, many families are looking forward to the summer holidays ☀️

However, for some children and young people, changes to routine and the uncertainty of what's ahead can feel overwhelming. You might notice:

💛 More worries than usual
💛 Feeling unsettled by changes to plans
💛 Finding transitions difficult
💛 Wanting extra reassurance

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. Talking about upcoming changes and keeping some familiar routines can help make the transition into summer feel more manageable.

What helps your family navigate routine changes during the holidays?

Exam season can be stressful for young people and families. During exams, it’s not always easy to know how best to support a child or young person who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious or under pressure.

Sometimes, small things can make a meaningful difference. This includes:

✨ helping break revision into manageable steps
✨ encouraging regular breaks and rest
✨ keeping routines realistic
✨ listening without adding extra pressure
✨ reminding them that exams do not define their worth

Support during this time is not about having all the answers, it’s about helping young people feel supported, understood and not alone.

Mental Health Awareness Week has arrived, with this year’s theme focused on action for good mental health 💙

We asked our Clinical Lead, Rebecca Kinnear, to reflect on why taking action matters when it comes to mental health and wellbeing.

At Healios, we see every day how mental health can shape someone’s entire life... education, relationships, confidence and the ability to cope day-to-day. We also see the difference compassionate, evidence-based care can make to children and adults.

Good mental health is not built through one moment. It’s shaped through everyday actions, connection, understanding and access to the right care.

Have you or your family accessed support from Healios?

We’re looking for parents, carers and young people to take part in a short online filmed discussion about the moments that matter most when receiving mental health or neurodevelopmental support.

We’d love to explore the small interactions, experiences and approaches that helped you feel supported, understood or reassured during your time with Healios. Your feedback will help us continue improving our services for children, young people, adults and families.

The session will:
💙 Take place online
💙 Last around one hour
💙 Be informal and supportive
💙 Include a £15 high street voucher as a thank you
💙 Help shape future clinician learning and communications (with your consent)

If you’re interested and would like to find out more, please send us a direct message. The deadline to reach out is Monday 11 May. Please note messages will be responded to during our working hours during Monday to Friday.
