In light of the recent high profile media coverage of a funeral director in Hull, Kinton & Daughter wish to make a statement:

We waited until we heard the full story and the facts were released to the public.

We are disgraced that someone has mistreated any human, departed or living and to know that this person, “represented” under the name funeral director has made us frustrated, upset and appalled.

He does Not represent us.
He isn’t one of us. And never will be!
He has disrespected everything that an independent family run funeral home stands for.

We want the government to listen to what we are all saying: we want to be regulated.
We are asking to be regulated.

We are part of SAIF already, we are inspected and abide by a code of practice But.. we opt into this! It’s not compulsory… however we want it to be!
However what this does mean for Kinton and Daughter and other funeral directors is we are already ready for regulation to come in.
SAIF have been campaigning for this for years!

We are so sorry to all those affected by this 🤍
We stand with you in your pain and grief 🩵

🌸 A Huge Thank You to Katie 🌸

This week we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming Katie to Kinton & Daughter Family Funeral Directors for her work experience.

Over the past week, Katie has been a fantastic support to our team. We’ve been delighted to show her the many different aspects of running an independent, family funeral home—from behind-the-scenes preparations to the care, compassion and attention to detail that go into supporting families every day.

Katie has approached everything with kindness, enthusiasm and a real willingness to learn, and it has been wonderful having her with us.

As a lovely surprise, Katie also made us some beautiful handmade crochet flowers, which we will treasure. Such a thoughtful gift that perfectly reflects the care and creativity she has shown throughout her time with us.

Thank you, Katie, for all of your hard work this week. We are so grateful to have had you with us and wish you every success for the future.
We know you’ll go on to do amazing things! 🩷🩵

•Today we said goodbye to a truly remarkable Scottish lady who was loved by so many. She lived a long, full life, leaving behind countless memories, stories, and a family who adored her.

This funeral meant a great deal to me personally. Many years ago, when I had just started my journey as a funeral director, I had the privilege of caring for her beloved husband. To now have the honour of caring for her and supporting the family once again is incredibly special and something I will never take for granted.

It has been a privilege to help celebrate a life so well lived and to pay tribute to her heritage; with the bagpiper playing her down the high street of her home town village•

🩵💚 Rest peacefully, and thank you for allowing me to be part of your family’s story once again. 🕊️

It’s time people knew that what these companies are doing.
Thank you to the ASA for acting on this.

We are always here if anyone wants to talk about a direct cremation or a full funeral service. However you want to say goodbye, please speak to your local family funeral director first.

In a world where everything is online, click & collect or AI, can’t we have something that’s still human, the act of saying goodbye ? 🤍

SAIF welcomes the ASA ruling on a Pure Cremation TV advert, reinforcing the importance of clear information, transparency and informed choice when families are considering direct cremation.

• I sat in quiet reflection today •

As funeral directors we forget sometimes to pause and see all the good we bring to people on a daily basis.
We are the calm in the storm, we are the umbrellas to shield people from the rain, we are the pillars of strength when the wind blows. We provide people with a steady pace for their loved ones funeral and a gentle hand when they feel unsteady.
We are the unsung heroes of people’s daily lives and today, I reflect on the good I do 🤍
