The Carpenter's Arms

The Carpenter's Arms Accommodation providing addiction related support primarily for those challenged with homelessness This programme ranges from 2 weeks to 3 months long.

The programme -

Phase 1: We have 18 bedrooms across 2 sites for new arrivals, commonly referred to as Phase 1. Here residents can settle in, reduce from methadone, subutex, chlordiazapoxide or a range of other prescribed medications to aid with substance withdrawal. Here residents are expected to work with staff to detox and prepare for Phase 2 should the resident successfully complete Phase 1. P

hase 2: This part of the programme focuses on the pastoral issues surrounding the addictive lifestyle, including looking at the back to work mentality. During this time residents will be encouraged to reconcile with family, visits facilitated and progress made on core issues by one of our support workers. Phase 3: For those who have successfully completed a residential addiction recovery centre, ours or a similar programme in the UK, we offer great accommodation in and around the Loughborough area. These houses have a member of staff living in and space for up to 4 residents. During this time the resident will be encouraged back to work, but realistically the timetable is their own. A regular review takes place every three months to determine the progress a resident is making in Phase 3 and, along with their key worker, new long term objectives are set. Help is never far away though as the live in staff member assists with daily challenges including work place issues and life skills. Re-offenders: Due to our close working relationship with the police and probation, and in no small part to the further education courses that some residents enrol on, we have found particular success with re-offenders. For those coming out of prison, our centre provides a stable platform for reintegration whilst addressing recovery from addiction. This programme includes move on houses with voluntary work available. Perks: We have found that part of successful rehabilitation is a healthy body as well as a healthy mind. We have a gym at Phase 2, a 5 a side football team, a scuba diving club and volunteering opportunities that include gardening within the community. This is a great chance to invest in the local community. After a busy day, catch up with other residents in the hot tub onsite or over a game of pool or table tennis. Street-2-life: This is a fantastic opportunity for willing residents to sow back into a younger generation by visiting schools and running workshops on substance abuse. This includes working with local youth groups. Family feel: Our largest centre has 29 bedrooms so there is always a sense of knowing who you live with and who you’re going through the programme with. We recognise that a support network is a necessary tool and so we will also work with clients to help reconcile family relationships. We believe that Christianity provides a firm foundation and ethos to operate under. No-one is excluded from applying for a place on our programme. Although we are based in Leicestershire, we are able to accommodate referrals nationwide. Application forms and House Rules can be downloaded from our website.

We’re absolutely blown away by the support from Lizzie's Homemade Cakes 💙

On 16th May, Lizzie and her mum held a bake sale at East Leake Leisure Centre to raise money for The Carpenter’s Arms hardship fund - and thanks to their incredible effort and everyone who supported them, they raised an amazing £340! 👏🧁

Lizzie first began fundraising to support a youth trip to Nepal, where she helped build toilets for a rural community. Since then, she’s continued using her baking to support charities like ours!

A huge thank you to Lizzie, her mum, and everyone who came along to support 💙

It’s Learning at Work Week 💙

At The Carpenter’s Arms, learning doesn’t just happen in a classroom, it also happens through real opportunities and hands-on experience.

Rob and Chris have both recently started new supervisor roles through our Pathways programme, giving residents living independently the opportunity to gain work experience and earn their own money.

From woodland projects at Nanpanton Hall to maintenance and decorating across our housing, they’ve been building confidence, leadership skills, teamwork and practical experience that can support future employment and independent living 👏

Did you hear our CEO Richard Spence talking about our new Six Hills Honey project with Jack Rafferty on BBC Radio Leicester yesterday morning?

It's an initiative we've set up to raise funds for our work at The Carpenter's Arms towards fighting addiction.

The interview was a good opportunity for shout outs to David Wagstaff at More Bees Please who has been super helpful in bringing this project to life and to Nick Megson and Amanda Megson at Abacus Flooring Solutions Limited who were the first business to sign up as a sponsor for one of our first 20 Six Hills Honey beehives 🏅

You can listen to Richard's interview here (at 1.07 hours):

Wake up with Ady bringing you stories, news and something to make you smile.

Our support team are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks 🏔️

From the 13th-14th of May, they’ll be tackling a 24-mile route across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, all to raise funds for our residents at The Carpenter’s Arms.

The money raised will help support men in recovery from addiction, providing a safe place to live, structured support, and the chance to build a more stable future 💙
