Home memorials offer a gentle and meaningful way to keep a loved one close, creating a cherished keepsake that can be treasured for years to come 🤍

From comforting teddy bears with discreet compartments for ashes, to beautiful photo frames, pebble and cuddle stones incorporating ashes, and elegant paperweights available in a range of colours, there are many ways to create something truly personal.

Some people choose a single memorial to keep at home, while others have a personal keepsake at home alongside a special memorial garden at the crematorium. There is no right or wrong way to remember someone. Every person, every relationship and every memory is unique and we believe memorials should be too.

Personal. Important. Timeless.

🌧️ WE HAVE RAIN!!! 🌧️

After weeks of sunshine and some seriously dry weather, we’re finally getting some much needed rain! 🌿🌱

The gardens are certainly going to appreciate the drink and hopefully will start looking a little greener in the weeks to come! 💚

Not sure we’ve ever been quite so happy to see a grey sky! 😂☔

🌿 Caring for our grounds during the drought

The prolonged dry weather is becoming increasingly noticeable across our grounds, with the lack of rainfall taking its toll on the grass, trees and planted areas around Loughborough Crematorium.

The conditions are presenting some real challenges for our grounds team, particularly when it comes to protecting young trees, newly planted areas and the spaces that are so important to the families who visit us.

We are adapting some of our usual grounds maintenance to help the trees cope with the conditions. For example, our usual pruning of some trees, particularly our Salix trees, is being delayed. By allowing them to retain more of their existing growth, we can help them preserve as much moisture as possible during this prolonged period of dry weather.

The difference this weather is making is clear to see, particularly when compared with photographs from this time last year. Areas that would normally be lush and green are now dry and sun-bleached, while some of our trees are understandably showing signs of stress.

Sadly, despite our best efforts, there is a possibility that some trees may not survive these extreme conditions. If that happens, we will replace them, however we may need to wait until the drought has passed and conditions become more favourable before doing so, giving any new planting the best possible opportunity to establish and thrive.

And yet, amongst all that dryness, there are still little pockets of colour and life continuing to shine through. 🌸🌺

Flowers continue to bloom, bringing brightness to the grounds and reminding us that even in some of the harshest conditions, nature can still find a way to flourish.

We know how much these grounds and memorial spaces mean to the families who visit us, and we want to reassure you that we are continuing to monitor the impact of the weather and make thoughtful decisions about how best to care for the grounds during this challenging period.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and kindness as we navigate what has been an exceptionally difficult summer for our grounds. 💚

5 things you may not know about private memorial gardens 🌷

Private memorial gardens offer families and individuals a unique and personal place to remember someone special. But there are a few things you may not know about them:

1. The space is yours to keep 💫
When you purchase a private memorial garden, you are purchasing the land, providing a permanent place of remembrance for your family.

2. Families can stay together 💫
Private memorial gardens are available in a range of sizes, including larger spaces designed to accommodate families, creating a place where loved ones can be remembered together in the future.

3. You can make it personal 💫
From the colour and type of chippings or stones to the shape of the garden, there are different ways to personalise the space. Trees, shrubs and additional memorials can also be incorporated to create a truly individual tribute.

4. They don't always need to contain ashes 💫
While ashes are placed within the ground in many private memorial gardens, a garden can also be created without ashes. It can instead provide a dedicated, personal place to reflect, remember and honour someone.

5. You can plan ahead at today’s price 💫
If a private memorial garden is something you’d like for the future, you can pre-purchase now at today’s price, giving you peace of mind that future price increases won’t affect your purchase.

Every family and individual remembers differently. If a private memorial garden sounds like something you'd be interested in, don't hesitate to contact or visit us for more details - we'd be honoured to support you 🤍
