As World Breastfeeding Week comes to an end, I thought I’d finally share my story… if anyone cares to read it. 🤍
This isn’t a post about breast vs bottle. Both of my children had completely different feeding journeys, and they’re both happy, healthy little humans. This is simply my experience.
Breastfeeding was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.
There were days I cried because I didn’t think I was enough. Days I questioned everything. Days I felt uncomfortable feeding in public or around extended family. Days where I felt completely touched out because someone always needed me.
But there was also something so special about knowing I could comfort her, feed her and be her safe place. It’s a bond I’ll treasure forever.
And then there was the wild advice… 😂 Like the auntie who genuinely told me to put chilli powder on my b***s when she turned one to make her stop feeding. I politely ignored that one!
Looking back, I’m so proud of both of my feeding journeys. One lasted a few months, one lasted three years, and both gave me exactly the same thing… two happy, healthy children.
I’m a little sad I’ll never get to experience breastfeeding again, but I’m so grateful I got to experience it at all.
If there’s one thing I hope every parent takes away from this, it’s to trust yourself. Feed your baby in the way that works for you, block out the noise and the judgement, and remember there’s no prize for doing it one way or another.
We’re all just doing our best. 🤍
