The thing about childhood sexual abuse is that we carry the memory of it around with us for our entire adult life.
It starts off as a feeling like carrying an invisible but very heavy rucksack. Over time it can become less of a weight, more of a burden, a voiceless scream within us. Still, it is a bag, a sack of which we have no choice but to carry, full of devastating memories, trauma and psychological injury.
When, one day we finally find the courage to disclose the abuse and lighten our heavy broken heart, we awaken and become free from the lifelong burden of chaos and confusion - much like a butterfly, released from the tightening grip of its cocoon..
