Goals over enjoyment.

I needed to think about this today, to reset, to refocus and remind myself about always coming from a positive place when it gets tough.

Working at higher level dressage (Inter 1), its undeniably tough. It's taxing for me and the horse. We are a great partnership, home produced and we are mates! I am responsible for the good (and the bad parts)🙈 of the training. He is an eager, honourable and willing friend. 💗

I rode yesterday and I was getting frustrated, pirouettes were wonky and dropping out. I knew I was to blame but found myself so focused on the end result that I forgot, albeit momentarily, that the goal is not the definition of who we are. Compassion, enjoyment and keeping cool in training is more important.

The goal is great to have as a target, but not at the expense of my best friend, my willing dancing partner.

On reflection, my aids were off and I was confusing my horse. It was not his fault. It was MY fault.

So after this reset and self talk, we rode again today. I was much better and my horse most willing. Less mistakes, happy partnership.

So, i guess sometimes, take a step back, this allows the growth and understanding.

Don't give up your goals, just know when to take a step back to regroup 🙏

We spend so much time working on our confidence in the saddle, but have you ever stopped to think about how the people around you affect it?

🐴 Celebrate your wins no matter how big or small they are!

🐴 Encourage you without pushing you beyond your limits

🐴 Listen to your fears without judging you

🐴 Remind you how far you've come

🐴 Offer constructive advice while helping you believe in yourself

💔 The people who dont care about confidence will......

🚩 Compare you to other riders

🚩 Laugh at your fears or tell you to “just get on with it.”

🚩 Make you feel silly for taking things slowly

🚩 Focus on your mistakes but never celebrate your progress

🚩 Leave you feeling inadequate or questioning yourself

Remember, constructive criticism can help you grow, but it should never leave you feeling worthless!!

The right people will challenge you kindly, respect your boundaries and want to see you succeed!! 💓💓

💜 Pay attention to how you feel after spending time with someone!!

Do they lift you up or leave you doubting yourself?

You are allowed to walk away from negativity and surround yourself with people who understand and support your journey!!

Confidence isn't about being the bravest rider!

It's about progressing at your own pace, trusting yourself and celebrating every little win!!

✨️We are delighted to announce that Jamie, our Junior Ambassador has consistently scored brilliantly and won the National Junior Intro Dressage League. ✨️🏇

Jamie has worked incredibly hard with his beautiful horse, training in rain and shine. Doing tests in everything from sideways sleet to 34 degree heat!

Hard work and a good heart really does build dreams.🙌

🎊Huge congratulations 🎊 to Jamie Hoptrough our Confident Rider Junior Brand Ambassador.

Jamie has worked really hard and now has a beautiful sash and rosette to show for it.

His win at Intro in the National Search for a Junior Dressage Star beat off some stiff competition, and with consistently high scores (high 60's and a 70%), Jamie smashed it!

Jamie has worked so hard to build a partnership with his horse, building confidence for them both! Having just won numerous classes at Junior Intro and the National Search for a Dressage Star, they are starting Prelim.
