You would have thought that being a veterinary nurse would mean I would be the cool calm and collected owner that sails through recovery.
You would be very much mistaken! 🙈 I didn’t see this level of stress and anxiety coming so I have had to do everything in my power to control the anxious over thinking mind. It’s horrible!
Sometimes I think ignorance is bliss. Iv been a nurse for 24 years and the knowledge and experience I have just feeds my over thinking mind. All the possibilities, all the scenarios. My mind has convinced me he’s so stressed his cortisol levels would get to high, his heart wouldn’t cope. He’s not eating so his blood sugars would drop, he’s not going to the toilet so his kidneys will fail! (I mean come on, seriously Stephanie Arlow!). I am a neurotic owner! Ha
This is the side that many people don’t see in me. I am a huge over thinker and can create scenarios out of thin air. This is why I do all the mindful work I do. I allow myself the UNDERSTANDING of why my mind is a mess over this. I DON’T JUDGE myself, it’s only because I love him with all my little heart and also I ACKNOWLEDGE what I’m feeling. They are just thoughts, they have no power. I name it, acknowledge it and let it pass.
We all over think, stress, catastrophise, worry but it doesn’t have to consume you. There were times before where the feeling I had yesterday was my a actual life. That was a humbling feeling. I can control it now and that’s what I want to help other with.
Recovery for king winston continues and I’ll be working on myself just as hard by the looks of things! Ha
Much love
Steph
