We’re so bloody stressed and tense a lot of the time, that simply pausing to …

✨ Have a laugh
✨ Take a few deep belly breaths
✨ Do a stretch
✨ Have a wee
✨ Get a drink
✨ Dance to your fave song 🎶

Will all help to calm our nervous system and tell our bodies that we’re safe 🙏

When our bodies don’t get little opportunities in the day to feel safe it can wipe us out leaving out depleted and burned out 🔥 ( that is hot not in a good way ) - not the best sentence but you know what I mean ☺️

The hardest lesson I had to learn … the hard way … obviously 🙄 …

Was that you can’t please everyone and that it’s ok for people not to be happy with you ❤️

Is that one or two ? 🧐

My role when I was young was to be the peace keeper. Keep everything ok to avoid stress boiling over 😡

This is no slight to my lovely mum - she did amazing - majority as a single, perimenopausal mum - Totally get it ❤️

The peace keeping and people pleasing - making sure everyone is happy with me - is still a pattern I very easily fall into, but at least now I can see it as an observer and choose whether to partake or not.

For years this was unconscious, and the physical symptoms that accompanied the over-worrying were:

➡️ Bloating (I could pass for being pregnant 🤰)

➡️ Anxiety (this would spill into nightmares - no mind rest even when asleep!)

➡️ Spots

➡️ Diagnosis of PCOS in my twenties

This came to a head when I got acne at 35 (came to a head 😅) and I didn’t know how to get rid of it. I went down the topical cream route - and already ate well due to the bloating 🥴

I didn’t know what else to do 😩

Fast forward a year and a half and I finally did an amazing Gut-Brain connection course 🧠🤰and suddenly everything fell into place and I got the missing puzzle piece I needed 🧩 💡

The link between being a worrier and the symptoms mentioned? My nervous system, blood sugar and hormones 🧩

It was from then that I started to make small changes and tweaks to my daily and weekly habits (including mindset) .. and 3 months later my acne finally cleared up and my bloating stopped being a problem ✨

Don’t get me wrong - I still get the odd spot, the odd bloated tummy - and I still get the odd pang of worry that someone’s not happy with me - but they’re minor and I don’t worry about them anymore because I know what tools to pull out of my tool-kit to get back to balance 🌿💫

I love a morning shot of Aloe Vera juice 🌱 - I get Aloe Pura from Holland & Barrett and it’s great for reducing inflammation 🌿

Matcha over coffee - My fave is Zenergy from Matcha Fuel 🌿 - Coffee and tea dehydrate while matcha gives natural energy without the dehydration plus is anti-inflammatory 💚

For a simple homemade electrolyte drink - just add a tiny pinch of good quality sea salt or Himalayan salt to a pint of water 💦
To pimp it further add a squeeze of lemon juice and a tsp of honey 🍯

We often think of digestion as just being about food 🍒

But true digestion is also about the thoughts and feelings we hold and process too ✨

When we don’t digest our food efficiently we may experience:
🌿 Bloating
🌿 Heartburn / reflux
🌿 Discomfort
🌿 Bowel irregularities
🌿 Low energy
🌿 Low mood
🌿 Anxiety
🌿 Changes in skin health

When emotions aren’t fully processed, this can contribute to:

Sometimes rest really is the healthiest option 🌿

But I also know rest isn’t always fully possible.

Sometimes you still have work, children, responsibilities, stress, poor sleep, hormones, recovery or emotional load to navigate.

Which is why health shouldn’t only be about “doing more”.

Sometimes support looks like:
🌿 learning how to work with your body instead of against it
🌿 reducing pressure instead of adding more
🌿 supporting energy gently rather than forcing productivity
🌿 allowing recovery to become part of health too

Rest isn’t laziness.
