💞Why Muscle Relaxing Injections Are Still My Favourite Treatment After 10 Years in Aesthetics 💞

After a decade in aesthetics, people often assume my favourite treatment would be the latest skin booster, polynucleotide treatment, or regenerative procedure.

But the truth is…

💉 Muscle relaxing injections remain my favourite treatment.

Why?

Because when performed correctly, they are:

Dermal filler placement has changed… a lot!

When I started injecting over 10 years ago, the approach to assessing and treating the face was very different.

Back then, treatments often focused on isolated areas eg nasolabial folds, lips and marionette lines.

We treated what we could see rather than understanding why it was happening.

Fast forward a decade and aesthetic enhancement is in a whole new league.

We treat the face completely differently now (well advanced practitioners do. You’ll still see many beauticians pumping up the cheeks until the face becomes a charachture of its former self). 🤦‍♀️

Today, it’s about working from the top down and supporting the lateral face first.

That’s because ageing isn’t just about chasing and filling in lines. It’s about structural change.

We need to consider bone resorption,fat pad descent and ligament laxity because all of this causes the face to move downwards and inwards as we get older.

Dr Bev Darwin and I have weekend clinics once a month.

Together we join forces to bring the latest techniques, products and skills to ensure patients get the highest standards of care and treatments available.

The clinic focus’s on restoring structure in the temple and cheek, supporting the outer face (lateral vectors) and rebalance. It is only then that the lower face can truly be addressed.

GPs deserve a contract that reflects the reality of modern general practice, not one that stretches an already exhausted workforce even further.

This proposed GP contract risks increasing workload, deepening burnout, and undermining patient care. Many practices are already operating at breaking point. Accepting more pressure without meaningful support or investment is not sustainable.

This isn’t just about pay, it’s about safety, retention, and the future of primary care. If Drs continue to accept contracts that don’t address these core issues, we risk losing more experienced clinicians and failing the communities who rely on us.

Voting against this contract is not about resistance for the sake of it, it’s about standing up for a system that works for both doctors and patients.
