Lyme Bay Medical And Dental Practices A friendly practice serving over 9,000 patients from two surgery sites close to the town of Lyme Reg

Lyme Bay is a friendly practice situated in the coastal town of Lyme Regis on Dorset’s famous and beautiful Jurassic Coast. We offer both NHS Medical and Dental services across two sites close to the town and aim to provide traditional patient centred care to young and old alike. Our premises offer parking and full disabled access including being sited on main bus routes. Our Practice is part of a

n integrated community team for the area which provides locally based intermediate care, community nursing, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. We also provide additional physical and mental health services in the form of consultant outpatient clinics and therapy and work closely with our colleagues in West Dorset to deliver as much care as close to home as is safely possible. We work closely with our patient group and community and aspire to deliver holistic modern care at all times.

🌒 On 12 August, a partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK. Ordinary sunglasses - no matter how dark - allow harmful solar radiation to reach the retina and should not be used to view an eclipse.

A reminder from the UK Health Security Agency: If you want to use eclipse glasses make sure they are genuine with specially designed filters that meet the international safety standard. 😎

🌸 Breast Screening Update for our Patients 🌸

The Dorset Breast Screening Unit will issue invitations to eligible patients registered with us starting in mid-August.

If you receive an invitation letter, please ensure you book or attend your routine screening appointment. Breast screening saves lives by detecting early signs of breast cancer, often before any symptoms appear.

Are you aged 71 or over?
You won't automatically receive an invitation, but you are still entitled to routine screening every 3 years if you want to! You can easily self-refer to request an appointment:
📞 Call: 01202 665511 (Option 2)
✉️ Email: [email protected]

Please share this with family or friends registered with our practice who might be due for their screening.

⚠️ RED HEAT-HEALTH ALERT: STAY SAFE
The UK Health Security Agency has issued a RED Heat-Health Alert for the South West, effective from 00:30 Wednesday 24th June to 23:30 Thursday 25th.
A Red alert indicates a significant risk to life, not just for vulnerable groups, but for everyone.

ℹ️ How to protect yourself:

✅ Stay Hydrated:Drink plenty of water and avoid excessive caffeine or alcohol.
✅ Keep Cool: Keep your home as cool as possible. Close curtains in rooms that face the sun and open windows when it is cooler outside.
✅ Limit Activity: Avoid strenuous physical activity during the hottest parts of the day.
✅ Check on Others: Keep an eye on elderly neighbours, friends, and family who may be more susceptible to heat-related illness.

If you or someone you know feels unwell, dizzy, weak, or has an intense thirst and headache, move to a cool place immediately and hydrate. 🥤

We'll continue to publish further guidance as the situation develops.

Stay safe, everyone!

A carer is anyone who provides unpaid support to a relative, friend, or neighbour who could not manage without their help. Caring for someone else is rewarding, but it can also be physically and mentally tiring. To look after someone else, you must first look after yourself.

Why not drop in to this new group which now meets the 2nd Thursday afternoon of every month in Broad Street, Lyme Regis.

For more info see the post below or contact Help & Care on 0303 3030153.

The NEW Carers Support Group begins this week, Thursday 2-4pm.
A wonderful opportunity to be with others who share similar situations. With a member of the Dorset Help & Care Carer service team on hand, you'll be made to feel very welcome. There's no need to book, just pop along. We look forward to meeting you.
