This week at Driving Miss Daisy New Forest 🌼

It's been another busy week for our Daisy team. With the traffic being affected by the recent wildfires, we're pleased to have ensured that every client reached their destination safely and on time.

This week, our journeys have included:
🏨 Accompanying a lady to her CT scan appointment at Royal Bournemouth Hospital
🏥 Taking clients to appointments with the chiropractor, dentist, doctor and ear clinic
💒 Supporting a lady attending a funeral, who appreciated having one of our companions by her side throughout the service
🌳 Enjoying lunch at Otter Nurseries and a couple of scenic drives across the forest
🛍️ Offering practical support and friendly company during a weekly shopping trip
🐾 Taking lovely Luna the cat to her vet appointment - because our four-legged passengers deserve the same care and attention too!

Every week and every journey is different. Sometimes it's an important appointment; sometimes it's a practical errand; and sometimes it's simply the opportunity to get out, enjoy the view and feel part of the local community.

That's what Driving Miss Daisy is all about: companionship, care and independence.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀!
For the past eight days, firefighters and emergency crews have worked tirelessly to help keep the New Forest, its communities and its wildlife safe.

Friday's nationwide government emergency alert was a stark reminder of just how serious the wildfire risk has become following the prolonged hot, dry weather.

With rain finally forecast this week, we're hoping it will bring some much-needed relief. In the meantime, please continue to take extra care and follow all fire-safety guidance.

From everyone at Driving Miss Daisy New Forest, thank you to our firefighters and all those supporting them for your courage, dedication and many hours of hard work. Our beautiful Forest is incredibly precious, and we are so grateful for everything you do to protect it. 💙

Perhaps you need help with the weekly shop and a few errands. Maybe you would enjoy a regular trip to a favourite coffee shop, garden centre or local beauty spot. Or perhaps you simply miss having somewhere to go and someone friendly to share the outing with.

Our companion service offers much more than transport. We collect you from home, provide practical support throughout your journey or outing and make sure you return home safely and comfortably.

We support clients with a range of mobility needs, including people who use wheelchairs, or mobility aids. Every journey is planned around the individual, with the extra time, care and reassurance they need. In the interview below, you can listen to what one of our regular clients says 👇

We currently have a limited number of weekly slots available for 🛍️ Shopping and errands, ☕ Coffee outings and 🌳 Trips to favourite local places. Whether it becomes a practical weekly trip or something enjoyable to look forward to, we are here to help you continue doing the things that matter.

And of course we are always able to help with those all important 🗒️ Medical and hospital appointments as well.

Sometimes the journey is only a small part of the day.

For many of our clients, having someone alongside them can make all the difference, whether it's getting safely to an appointment, enjoying a trip out, doing a little shopping or simply having someone to chat with along the way.

One of the things we love most at Driving Miss Daisy New Forest is getting to know the people we support.

No two journeys are quite the same, and often it's the conversations, laughs and little moments along the way that we remember most. Getting from A to B matters but so does how you feel along the way.

Every passenger has a story...and sometimes they have whiskers.
Today, on International Cat Day, we're celebrating one of our very special four-legged passengers.

This lovely cat recently travelled with us to a veterinary appointment, making the journey safely alongside their owner. We know that trips to the vet can be stressful for both pets and their humans, so being able to offer a calm, reassuring journey makes all the difference.

We believe every journey should be as comfortable and caring as possible - whether you're travelling on two legs or four.

Happy International Cat Day to all the wonderful feline companions who brighten our lives every day. 🧡🐾

Every great assistance dog comes with four paws 🐾

This week marks International Assistance Dog Week, celebrating the remarkable dogs who help people live more independently, confidently and safely every day.

We're fortunate enough to meet some very special four-legged passengers.

Whether they're providing practical support, reassurance or simply the comfort of a familiar presence, assistance dogs play an extraordinary role in the lives of the people they support.

That's why assistance dogs are always welcome aboard our Driving Miss Daisy New Forest vehicles. We believe every journey should be comfortable, respectful and inclusive - for both our clients and their faithful companions.

Here's to all the incredible assistance dogs who quietly make such a big difference, one wagging tail at a time.

Some of the most meaningful friendships begin when you least expect them.
International Day of Friendship, established by the United Nations, reminds us that kindness, understanding and human connection have the power to bring people together.

Over the years, we've discovered that friendship really doesn't have an age limit. It might begin during a drive to lunch, over a favourite cup of tea or while wandering through a beautiful garden. Sometimes it's the conversations that happen between destinations that become the most memorable.

We've seen clients become friends, companions become trusted faces and familiar coffee shops become places where people are greeted by name. Those little moments of connection can brighten someone's whole day.
Because friendship isn't measured by how long you've known someone - it's measured by how someone makes you feel. 💛

Today is Parents' Day - a gentle reminder that, if we're fortunate enough to still have our parents with us, there often comes a time when life's roles begin to change.

We find ourselves asking...
❤️Are they getting out and about enough?
☕Are they seeing people and enjoying a chat?
🚘Can they get to appointments safely and confidently?

Growing older doesn't mean losing independence, but sometimes having a little extra support makes all the difference.

At Driving Miss Daisy New Forest, we're privileged to spend time with some wonderful older people. Every journey is about more than reaching a destination - it's about companionship, conversation and helping people continue enjoying the things that matter most.

And if that gives families a little extra peace of mind, then we've done our job.
