Sometimes I’m delighted when a patient cancels… 😊

Not because my diary gets lighter, but because it means they no longer need me.

Today I received two messages that completely made my day:

“Things have improved massively, so I’m hoping with maintenance of Pilates, it will continue.”

and

“It’s incredible the difference it’s made to my life! Thank you so so much, honestly you don’t know how much it means to me.”

As a physiotherapist, there is nothing better than seeing someone go from pain, frustration and limitation to confidence, strength and getting back to living their life.

My goal has never been to keep people coming back forever. It’s to give them the knowledge, tools and confidence to manage their bodies independently.

So yes, sometimes a cancellation is actually a success story. 💙

Here’s to getting stronger, moving better, and learning to listen to what your body needs. 👏

From torrential rain drumming on the canvas roof of the Tipis at Primrose… to sunshine pouring through the windows overlooking the beautiful Cheshire backdrop, with Winter Hill in the distance ☀️🌧️

This week’s Back Care Pilates Workshop explored spine anatomy, the muscle slings that support the lower back and pelvis, and some of the common themes behind low back pain highlighted in the evidence base.

We then moved through a 45-minute Pilates class focused on improving strength, control and mobility through the mid and lower back — helping support better lumbopelvic stability.

We finished with breathwork, meditation, and the beautiful poem Joy Chose You by Donna Ashworth, just as the clouds began to clear.

All participants were emailed the exercises covered in class so they can continue their back care practice independently 💪✨

Because it’s not just about exercise — it’s about understanding why the body moves the way it does, and how to help it move better, safely and sustainably.

Sometimes wellbeing looks like exercise.
Sometimes it looks like stillness.
And sometimes it’s simply trusting that brighter days will come after the storm.

A lovely reminder during Mental Health Awareness Week that sunshine always comes after rain.

Next workshops:
• June — Upper Back, Neck & Shoulder Care
• July — Hip & Knee Care

This Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, a reminder that movement doesn’t have to be intense to be powerful.

As a physio and Pilates instructor, I often see how stress, anxiety and overwhelm show up physically — tension, shallow breathing, fatigue, headaches, back pain and feeling “stuck”.

Gentle movement, strength work, breathing and connection can all help support both physical and mental wellbeing 💛

Sometimes the goal isn’t pushing harder.
Sometimes it’s helping your body feel safe enough to relax again.

Your body listens to your stress levels — but it also responds to care.

Back pain myths are everywhere — and many can actually increase fear around movement.

The evidence tells us something different:
🟢 Spines are strong
🟢 Movement is helpful
🟢 Pain is complex
🟢 Scans are not always required.

Understanding this can change how people recover and regain confidence.

Which myth surprises you most?
