🐝💛 Bumble has been out and about! 💛🐝

Today, our very special guest Bumble, the mascot for Honeypot Children’s Charity, joined us for a trip around Lyndhurst to spread the word about our Charity Car Wash taking place this weekend here at Hartwood House! 🚗🧽

We swung by the Lyndhurst Community Centre, theNew Forest Heritage Centre, Lyndhurst, local businesses, and plenty of other familiar spots to invite everyone along and help support this fantastic cause.

Every car washed will help us raise vital funds forThe Honeypot Children's Charity, a wonderful charity that provides respite breaks and ongoing support for young carers, giving them the chance to simply be children and create lasting memories. 💛

We’d love to see as many of you as possible this weekend, so bring your car along, say hello to the team, and help us make a real difference for an incredible cause.

📚💙 A very special morning before the schools broke up for summer…

We were delighted to take our wonderful resident, Eira, to visit our local school, where she had the honour of reading our brand new dementia children’s book during assembly.

For Eira, this was so much more than reading a story. Having been a teacher, standing in front of a room full of children once again was a truly meaningful moment. Seeing her confidence, warmth and passion shine through reminded us that our life experiences and skills never stop mattering.

Every child is going to be given their own copy of the book to take home, helping to start important conversations about dementia with their families and encouraging understanding from a young age.

Moments like these show the power of bringing generations together. Thank you to the school for giving Eira such a special opportunity—we know it’s a memory she’ll treasure for a long time. 💙📖

🌱 Mary’s passion is growing… and so is our harvest! 💚

There were plenty of smiles today as Mary proudly harvested some beans from the Hartwood House vegetable patch – a garden that truly means so much to all of us.

Mary’s love of gardening is infectious. She spends time nurturing the plants, sharing her knowledge with fellow residents and teaching both residents and staff how to care for the vegetables, from planting seeds to harvesting the finished crop.

The garden is so much more than a place to grow vegetables. It’s a space for friendship, fresh air, purpose and learning, proving that passions can continue to flourish at every stage of life.

Well done, Mary – we can’t wait to see what we can harvest next! 🌿🫛💚

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on our wonderful Care Assistant, Isabel.

Isabel is a valued member of the Hartwood House family and someone who always goes above and beyond for our residents.

We’re also incredibly proud of Isabel for recently completing her medication training – another fantastic achievement that reflects her commitment to providing the very best care.

As if that wasn’t enough, Isabel was also a huge help to the team during the Race Across Hampshire, throwing herself into the challenge and supporting everyone every step of the way. Her enthusiasm, teamwork and willingness to help wherever needed truly embody the spirit of Hartwood House.

Thank you, Isabel, for everything you do. We’re so lucky to have you as part of our team! 💙👏

We’re so excited to finally have our brand-new children’s book, The Books on Grandpa’s Shelf, back from the printers! 💙

Created with love by our amazing Team here at Hartwood House, this special story is designed to help children better understand dementia, encouraging empathy, conversation and connection across generations.

We can’t wait to start delivering copies into our local community, schools, nurseries and families, helping to make dementia a little less frightening and a lot more understood.

🏃‍♀️🌳 Race Against the New Forest! 🌳🏃‍♂️

What a fantastic day our residents and team had taking part in the Race Against the New Forest, competing alongside our friends from Mornington Court and Heathlands in a fun-filled challenge packed with teamwork, laughter and adventure!

Our mission took us across the beautiful New Forest, racing to checkpoints, searching for hidden items, answering tricky questions and even trying to earn bonus points by returning with as much of our challenge cash as possible. 💰🗺️🔎

While a little friendly competition kept everyone on their toes, the real highlight was spending time together, enjoying the stunning surroundings and creating wonderful memories along the way. There was plenty of encouragement, lots of laughs and great team spirit from everyone involved.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise such a memorable day. We can’t wait for the next adventure! 🌿👏

🌹 Morning Puzzles in the Rose Garden 🧩

What better way to start the day than with puzzles in the sunshine? ☀️

One of the many things we love about Hartwood House is having several beautiful outdoor spaces for our residents to enjoy. From peaceful gardens to cosy little nooks and crannies, there’s always the perfect spot to relax, socialise, or take part in activities.

Being outdoors is wonderful for both physical and mental wellbeing, and this morning’s puzzle session was filled with fresh air, laughter, teamwork, and plenty of smiles.

It’s the simple moments like these that make all the difference. 💚🌿
